I'm not at home right now to look but I'm pretty sure their checks are issued from a New York bank. Is that correct?
I'm in NYC, so if that is indeed the case and it's an in-state check, does anyone know if it will be possible for me to just cash it at one of those check cashing places? I've only been to pick up western union and have never tried to actually cash a check

Thanks. I'll be cutting it close, but am heading down to Hell's Kitchen from the UES. Thankfully I remembered this article and was able to find out that the check cashing place is open until 6:00.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to take one of those checks to a check cashing place if you suspect it might bounce. Couldn't it be considered fraud since you have a suspicion the check will bounce and couldn't some of them try to go after you for additional fees?
Some counties have it set up so that you can turn in bounced checks for enforcement. I'm not sure how it would work for this or what the deal is but I'd think there is some kind of process and it would be tough for them to get out of it. Eventually they would have to pay.

Maybe so or maybe not. What's most important to me right now though is the fact that I have a really busy, really stressful week coming up and if that check were to bounce, I would undoubtedly have to find the time to raise a very special brand of bloody motherfucking hell despite having neither the time nor the patience to do so in proper civil manner. In other words, things would get pretty fucking ugly, it would be a big fucking headache, and I don't want to have to fucking deal with it. Not this week. No way. And I really think that it's best for me to just role the dice with all that other stuff, deal with whatever consequences come of it, and hope that my schedule will he more dispute resolution friendly when I get the next check.
None of that really matters, though, because the stupid idiots at the check cashing place apparently decided to have a snow day and leave at 5:00!!! What a bunch of lazy cunts!! I may have to go to the bank on Monday morning, but maybe not. I'm not going to make two special trips for a $70 check No fucking way. Especially if I have to deal with snow again. So it may be a week or even two before I deposit it. Or maybe I'll still have it on me when happening to walk by the check cashing place on Monday. It's really hard to say. All I know is that it better fucking clear.

sorry to hear about the bounce check, have you heard anything from Ztod? you can probably do merchant check verification and the bank will tell you if they have a history of recently bounced checks. BofA has this I assume chase does as wellComment

Jimmy if you want, take it to the actual bank or a branch of the same bank, they can easily check the funds. You can almost always cash a check even without an account at the issuing bank.Comment

I know. Thanks. I have bank accounts and all that, it's only $70, and seeing as the check came two weeks ago and I havent deposited yet, I'm not really hurting for money. What I am short on, though, is time and patience.
2.5 hours ago I was on the UES in a nice warm apartment hanging out with a girl that I had just met and hooked up with last night. She wasn't super hot or anything, I'll probably never see her again, and she was maybe just a little overweight, but she was also kind of cute, she had a nice apartment, was fun to talk to, and gave really great head. Now, it's snowing like a motherfucker outside and I didn't have a proper coat with me, so there we were hanging out throughout the afternoon doing our own shit on our own laptops until I saw this thread which left me with no choice but to take the subway back down to Hell's Kitchen, deal with umbrella wielding idiots, walk through puddles of filthy snow/slush, pick up a check at my apartment, go to a stupid fucking check cashing place only to find out that it closed an hour early at which point I came over to the coffeeshop I'm at right now and logged on gfmotherfuckingy with the hope of finding out whether or not there are any issues their program.
That's what's bullshit and that's what I'm pissed off about right now.
So, in then process of bouncing a check to the guy who started this thread, someone whom I don't even know, and then ignoring him for a week as he tried to settle things amicably, they have effectively ruined my Saturday afternoon/early evening and I unfortunately cannot help myself from taking shit like that personally. I really, really hope that things can be worked out quickly. It's not like I can bill them for my time or anything. lol
It's just a shitty, shitty situation all around and I don't like it.

If you are who we think you are (not 100% sure) we've been talking to you since day 1 to fix the problem. We talked to our bank and no check were returned for NSF. We asked you for some proof, to see why it was returned since it was for NSF, that's for sure (we do have funds, fyi) and got no reply.
We sent you 2 emails, and no response so far - so you're either lying or something else is going on. In any case, don't blame us for not answering for 1 week since we did respond, we did receive some replies from you and you stopped replying.
We'll gladly send another check, we're just trying to find out what happened cause obviously we dont want to send another check if the same thing is going to happen. The best is to switch to 'wire transfers'.
bottom line, we need you to answer the emails we sent you, that'll get things fixed faster than having to post on GFY.Clement

He's just demonstrating what he thinks of affiliates and his attitudes. Just say thanks for the information and act accordingly. FYI- the attitudes of reps don't just form in a vacuum. They are usually passed along from upper management and other colleagues. Can't say I'm surprised here after recent events.
