Should I completely back out of adult? I'll take a majority post on this.

I'm on the fence....

After visiting a producer this summer and realizing what porn did to his marriage and how people judge you if they have ever known you did adult, I'm starting to think I should just pull out.

Being immersed in adult never factors in your favor if some legal problems come about. You walk into a courtroom and you immediately have 2 strikes against you.

I'm also sick of how out of control content has become.

This doesn't mean I'm leaving GFY but means I should probably just pull out of this whole foray of adult together.

...become an also ran in the adult world... not like I made it really in the first place. I figure for someone like me it is probably just better to be a hardcore developer and just sweep this under the rug and move on.

Please leave your comments below and be honest. Harsh, mean, and just awful I need to hear them all please!!! Push me off the fence...

One long term consequence I sometimes wonder about: given that I'm in the teen niche and people are quick to scream "CP!!!" (I've had one site blocked by google, and another complaint made directly to my host) I'm wondering if my name is on some sort of watchlist, and I'll get pulled aside if I ever happen to visit that country.

The other long term consequence is that adult related domains which did have my real name associated with them at some time (even years ago) are forever archived at places like domaintools. One day that data may appear as a google result when searching for my name.

As far as whether to quit or not.. depends on your past success and your current financial condition among other variables. You almost need money to live on now days until you finally make enuf to live on (your nut).

Anyhow a million variables.. depends how bad you want it now days and if it is even feasable. I dont think you can start this biz broke and make it anymore unless you have a close tutor. You have to lose money to make money now days. You have to try stuff and not all will work. Pretty tough stuff now days really.

If you are young, go drive a long distance truck and make 80-100K easily annually.

Anyhow, some or none of this may apply to you. Good luck

If ya can't handle it then just walk away. Who are you trying to convince here? Looks like you made up your mind. Why plan on having to walk in a courtroom? I don't know what fraction of a percentage of people running a legit biz have to, even then it's probably due to carelessness that can easily be avoided. As for what others think about your porn biz, well that's on you and how you conduct yourself. But, it shouldn't matter anyways.

If you're a weirdo creep then yeah, the fact you run an online porn biz probably doesn't help.

I wonder about many of the same things, to be honest here. This is why I am an anonymous cartoon character instead of, say, Robbie, who flaunts his work and lifestyle and is proud to be what he is: a successful pornographer (and more). I do admire that about Robbie (and others), how they don't seem to give a fuck what anyone else thinks about them.

THIS is true "freedom", BTW: Not giving a fuck what other people think of you, or what you do, how you dress, look, etc.

Anyway, if you're thinking this way then you should probably just fade out as gracefully as you can. For me, because of my network and "success", it's a little harder to just walk away with no consequences. I'd be giving up a lotta moolah if I did so, with nothing to replace it (at the moment). But if you're not financially tied to Adult and are feeling this way then you should split, or at least take a long break and see how you feel about things a few months from now.

I appreciate all the responses, interesting. I'm not tied in financially too much, not enough to make a living anyway.
I will slowly fade out and a few people will not like it and in the process a few real strong connections were made but it's really not worth the stigma that's come with it.

So it's going to be sticking to mainstream related work which I've already done. Adult is fun and the naked girls are great but it effects people a certain way and to some it really isn't pretty.
Lots of great stories... but that's enough for adult.

At least for me, adult will make normal life impossible.

This means helping people that do adult with webmaster or developer related task is still in the cards but no more mass wp blogs, running a board, or hosting content.

This is still a place to troll and lurk though.
