not really because the attackers pulled a gun first....not much you can do then if you are not trained to the max for such situations and few people are....what would have helped the family was the father walking with a drawn gun 24/7 but this is unrealistic

Gun owners just assume that when attacked they'll be able to arm themselves AND be able to defend themselves. I disagree. I'm forty-three years olds, overweight, and if you break into my house at 3am in the morning I'm not going to be able to find my fucking slippers in time no less arm myself.

It sounds like they were there for a while. There were three victims. I would have to guess that at during the first 600 seconds, there was probably a four second opportunity for pne of the three to put an end to it, had they been prepared to defend themselves.For historical display only. God Bless, that is what a prison is for. How can you ever come out of there as anything less than a killing crime machine. Some people even go in there and consider it as college. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

OP's question is kind of silly.
It might have "helped", or it might not.
Might have gotten the family killed, or someone in the family killed, might not.
It might have let the family get away without being raped, it might not.
In an actual situation, you make the best decisions, second by second, that you can.
I happen to have guns hidden in various places thruout my house, but most people can't, don't, or won't do such a thing. My kids are grown and gone, and I don;t typically have guests, so I can do that; most people can't, and it would be irresponsible gun handling protocol to advise it, and only a macho idiot would suggest it.
A gun in a gunsafe in the bedroom is not much use to you if you have two guns pointed at you and your loved ones in the living room.

I'm a former US Marine. I've fired every gun you can imagine. I'm trained in and studied combat tactics. For two years I was an instructor teaching combat tactics to Marine officers. I'm forty-three years old now. When the police banged on my door at 2am last year because they had the wrong house, it took me two minutes to figure out what the fuck was going on and another two minutes to shut the alarm and get the door open - And even then I wasn't prepared to go into any kind of tactical situation.
Anyone who thinks they can go from a dead sleep to grabbing their firearms and getting into a gun battle with an unknown amount of combatants in the middle of the night in the dark is kidding themselves. The odds of me shooting my own family members is greater than shooting anyone else. The only person that can do this is James Bond - and he doesn't exist.Herschel Savage
