in this video the first person who saw what happened did the right thing and looks like they ran in to call police, others on the sidewalk didn't run out into the road , but perhaps that is more common sense than selfishness.

In defense of the other video , those that went around the child may have just thought it was a doll or trash in the road. It didn't look like anyone in either video saw clearly what was going on and ignored them.. , and in both videos , the first person who clearly checked if something was wrong DID act and DID do the right things

It might be not as bad, but it's still the same situation as the China video, where no one does anything.

First of all, we don't know if anyone of the bystanders actually called 911. The reporter mentioned the police officer came by while he was on his way to another call. No one did anything for a full minute, and if the police officer hadn't come by, it probably would have taken much longer as well.

I remember a few years back hearing a news story of a guy getting hit on a bike on a bridge, knocked off the bridge onto the interstate below and so many cars hitting him that it turned into basically small pieces of flesh yet nobody stopped as they "most likely" thought it was pieces of animal roadkill. I travel alot and make friends everywhere including in China. I showed the video of the child being run over to a female in her 20's, and her reply was something along the lines of "typical Chinese". She was speaking of her own, and not from abroad but she herself living in ROC.

When I was border hopping in ROC, Passport Control would open up a couple more pedestrian lanes based on the volume of people waiting. With total disregard for one another, like a stampede of cattle they ran to the new windows. I watched daily as people would be knocked over.
