Travel, accommodation, etc. $1800.

Total cost to you $7,800 for 30 sets = $260 a set.

I had my own reasons for wanting to shoot content outside of Russia for that project. Tickets were cheap and renting an apartment in Brno was cheap. Visas were easy. Shooting was cheap. Its not more complicated than that. At the time (2004) wages were still higher than in Russia, more girls in CZ had fast connections than in Russia and studios in CZ were already falling apart due to that fact, so there is no logical reason to try to start a studio in a place where it was clear had no future in that respect.

There was not advice on "lighting", there was how to light one shot. Blast it with flat light from the front.

The books I suggest are by people, who are qualified by training and experience to write about photography and lighting.

I would suggest people get their knowledge from sources such as those and not someone who has had no training, does not read books, does not know you can change lenses on a DSLR, has no idea what an editing program does, who thinking he knows everything.

Styles change but not the methods and techniques. All the flags and gobos are still in use. Same lamps but with newer bulbs. The basis of lighting and photography is physics and that has not changed.

They are still in use on every film set in the world, very few DOPs ever wrote books about lighting, that is the best that I have come across.
