I saw him a few years ago in Oakland. Only concert I've ever been to where the main act didn't come on stage till 12 pm. Show was over past 2 am.

I think it's part of his act now to always be at least 2+ hours late. I could understand if he was relevant and popular today. But for an over the hill rocker to do it is just annoying.

Thanks for pointing that out. Brings up an interesting question: What IS the proper measurement of a man's life or value? Money? Lives touched? How much he got from others? how much he dominated others?

I know there's no right or wrong answers so I'm focused more on what the metric is.

My favorite concert memory involves Axel pulling shit like that.
Years ago Guns n Roses did a concert in Denver with Metallica. Metallica had sold out Mile High two nights and nearly sold out a third on their previous tour. Maybe Axel didn't know Denver was a Metallica town, maybe he didn't care. When he started pulling his shit, acting like he was going to leave, most of us turned our backs on him displaying thousands of Metallica patches. "Metallica, Metallica" the chant began. Axel sheepishly began to sing.

I think that first pic is a bad angle. I watched the video, and while he is heavier than he was in the late 80's, early 90's (20+ years ago), he's still not fat, and isn't nearly as heavy as Vince Neil (though I did laugh at the comment above). Like others said, he's pushing 50, what do you expect?

Honestly, I think that fu manchu moustache is his biggest appearance related issue at moment.

I don't really get why so many people are calling him fat. I mean, the dude is definately chubby but when I think of a fat guy, the thought of a 300 + pound guy comes into my mind - and he doesn't look nearly that heavy. But more than anything, the singing wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. I kept waiting for this guy to make a big comeback (considering that he did so well in the late 1980's and early 1990s) - but I sure don't see that ever happening. I guess life has treated him very well though - and will probably continue to do so until his last breath.

Thats ok I'm sure he will rebound in a few years. He sounds out of breathe on "Welcome to the Jungle" and lets face it - you have to be in really good shape to sing that song.

And to be fair, the sound mix on these videos is really bad. His voice is too "in front" / too loud, and is too dead (i.e., no effects, echo, corrections or blending). Whoever the engineer was who was in charge of recording really goofed.

I saw Guns & Roses during the Use Your Illusion days. They played Arrowhead Stadium in KC with Body Count and Metallica. Body Count and Metallica kicked ass. Guns was just terrible. We left half way through their show. Axl was skinny then and still sucked shit.
