At that age they naturally pick up excellent skill levels. And as a parent that's one less thing to worry about.

They just sink....

Even if I could not swim my legs would start kicking and I would stay above the surface I am sure.

It must be some sort of instinct that some of have and some dont...

I can do 10 or so laps, dive & hold my breath for a 1:20 or so but if I were on a sinking ship in the middle of the ocean I'm pretty much fucked.

Sure can swim. Know a few adults that can't. They all procrastinate on learning.

Swimming is like a natural instinct to me. Perhaps, it is because my swimming instructor pushed me in the deep end of the pool back when I was around 7 years old during swimming lessons. Man, I was fucking pissed!

But I sure as hell learned how to swim. :winkwink:

It's probably been 6-7 years since I've swam. Was pretty good at it for awhile. Not a huge fan of it anymore. I sunburn easily so being outside for a long time isn't the best idea. Can't afford an indoor pool. So... yeah.

It's easier if you're thin, that's for sure.

Indeed parents should take their kids to swimming lessons.

I can swim but I am also having swimming lessons at the moment as I need to improve so that I can enter into a triathlon.

I can swim and I love it. I would stay in a river all day if I could. That said, I can't ride a bike or drive a car, so we all have our gaps.

I love to swim. Did a lot of body surfing, boogie boarding and swimming in the Pacific as a kid.

That's what got me motivated from being a novice to a decent swimmer that's for sure...

check out the book Total Immersion Swimming by Terry Laughlin. Very simple steps. I read about 5 books on swimming before i got to this one but this is the one that turned me from being a 4 lap swimmer to a 70 lap one... He has vids on youtube too..

My son at 16 days old, (He's 5 weeks old now), and already out on the boat. I will be taking him swimming in the ocean with me next week. He already loves his bath.

I have a feeling he will be swimming as early as I was! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh
