    Law #2 - Drug Laws



    Racism can be direct or it can have a discriminatory impact. These laws have F'ed up impacts.

      That is the reality, and it's a reality that most people will deny because they simply
      can not believe it and, lucky for them, they will never be in this situation.

      Ron Paul is correct, it's a well know fact that the death penalty is applied in
      strange ways and too many death row inmates have been cleared now that DNA
      science it available.

      If there is a way that the death penalty is racist then it would have to be that
      whites who kill blacks simply don't get death. It's so rare as to be non-existent.

                                                          I saw the unintended negative effects of minimum wage when I was a fast food manager. When minimum wage increased by 20%, on the same day all major chains had to increase their prices by 25% percent to compensate for the increased wages, taxes, unemployment insurance, etc. At the same time, we had to be a liitle more careful about the hours that the youngest or least paid employes clocked. Overall, their paychecks increased by about 15%, while prices increased by 25%. Therefore their pay could but LESS of the product than before the increase. This is yet another example of well meaning politicians failing to think through how people will haver to responds to policy changes. So often they make policy based on the assumption that nobody will do anything in response.

                                                          For the MOST racist laws, though, how about the ones that are racist on their face? We still have laws saying that college admissions standards are at one level for one race, but another race can't get in unless they meet a higher standard. Similarly for much government hiring. There are rules that explicitly say people of one race must be discriminated against in government hiring. Those are the most racist. One can argue that is "the good kind of racism", but it's most certainly racism.

                                                                      While the book may be categorized under fiction in your local book store, it is the farthest thing from it. The only reason it's regarded as fiction is because he had to change the names of the subjects he was writing about. Upton Sinclair was a gonzo journalist who worked for months in Chicago's meat packing industry experiencing everything written in the book firsthand. The book was actually a cataclyst for the formation of the F.D.A., so to say it's a work of fiction is disingenous. It was taken seriously enough at the time that president Roosevelt sent the labor commision to the stockyards to investigate the claims, which were confirmed.

                                                                                  Not racist at all, if someone thinks they are victims of racism based on min wage and drug laws.... get a better job and don't get involved in drugs. Both things are possible regardless of race once you stop playing victim and others stop coddling.
