Twitter getting popular day by day. It gave us ( http://twitter.com/Pimprollxxx ) the opportunity to engage with customers by providing instant updates with a creative twist and help us build our brand,
Twitter is new to us?but that said, in a few short weeks we?ve had definite increase in all sorts of traffic and connected with hundreds of people we otherwise wouldn?t have.

I had to jump back in to answer this question, because I LOVE sharing these tools with people! My best twitter clients:

Tweetdeck: A Desktop client that is so robust, it may seem overwhelming at first. You can manage multiple accounts, follow trends, @ replies, DMs, etc.. You can even plug in your facebook, myspace, linked in and others. A truly brilliant desktop app that keeps improving. There is an iphone version as well, but it's not as great (IMHO).

Twittelator Pro (iphone): This is definitely an app for power users. Not only can you ping multiple accounts and your facebook at the same time, but you can bookmark your favorite people, MUTE ANNOYING PEOPLE without unfollowing them, automatically participate in trending topics, shorten urls and tweets on the fly, switch easily between geotagging, save tweets, plug in your favorite "read it later" programs, and a whole bunch of other shit that I can't list here due to needing to catch a flight, soon. Anyhow. The app will run you $5 (USD), but I think it's totally worth it. If you AREN'T a "power user" of twitter, I'd suggest that you just stick with Twitter for iphone.

Thread fail and industry fail.

While you blame tubes for your falling sales you ignore the powerful social media platforms on the planet.

Sweet.

Sarah_Jayne 10-03-2011 03:29 PM

As with just about everything in life, it is what you make of it. So many people in this industry are stuck in the 'if you build it, they will come' and the 'build it and forget it' mindset we were all in about five years ago. So, after bitching and moaning about the 'gayness' of Twitter at the start when others of us on here were jumping on it, they eventually stuck up a Twitter account. Then they did exactly nothing to nurture it or learn the power it can have for your business. Then, they say it is useless. Yes, it is useless if you don't USE it.

Overload 10-03-2011 04:32 PM

fuck twitter - fuck facebook - fuck cell phones ... i refuse to use crap like that :pimp

Profit.

Agreed.

I did a lead-in site last year which had a few guest posts from porn stars. Bobbi Eden did one and was actively tweeting out links. It worked out really well for me when she did that Team BJ thing that got her 10s of thousands of new followers.

In addition to # of followers, frequency of a porn star's tweets should be considered if the anticipation of porn star retweeets plays a large part in your strategy. If they tweet constantly, you're more likely to get lost in the shuffle amongst their followers. Getting a retweet from a girl who hardly ever tweets will allow you to have better positioning on their profile page. To illustrate my point, if you were doing an ad buy would you pay more for advertisement #1 or advertisement #2?

http://i.imgur.com/OOGZY.jpg

You'd rather have #1 of course. Less tweeting = better positioning for a longer period of time and more eyeballs from non-followers. What's funny is that I figured this out after quickly doing a Kacey Jordan spotlight right after the Charlie Sheen story broke. She retweeted it and even though it seemed like she tweeted pretty frequently, I ended up having the top spot for 2 or 3 days. Maybe she went on another bender. :smokin

I had twitter the day it was launched.. Then it got all gay

jimmycooper 10-03-2011 09:38 PM

Oh, one other thing I just remembered. If you're trying to build a Twitter following or just increase general brand awareness, make sure that you don't have a mobile redirect set up on the sites that you're tweeting.

To add to that, for those on Android you want to use the app named Plume as it does all of those things mentioned above.

Oh shit. I wonder how many followers I've pissed off? I have great mobile ratios though. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for the protip.

Great points. I also forgot to mention that when tweeting a blog post or something, don't use their name in the tweet but rather their twitter handle as they'll usually see it in their replies, get an ego boost and RT it.

Agreed. To be successful with Twitter, I think it needs to be more about 'you' with the biz thrown in. My followers follow because of me ... and they just happen to like what I like and am selling.

My straight Twitter account is a ghost town because it's not authentic. My gay account is bustling because the followers relate to me.

Yeah, I'm prepping for a massive Twitter campaign in which retweets are vital. It's for year two of this thing I did that was featured in XBIZ last year only this year will be much more elaborate and broader in scope, so I had an idea of what the retweet ratios should have been but wasn't getting them. It wasn't until I read a random article which said that 63% of those on Twitter use it on their mobiles at least some of the time that I realized it was the redirect. So it goes! :pimp

Oh, and I had only been using a redirect for a month, wasn't entirely comfortable with the concept of a redirect to begin with, and the ratios were only about 1:24000, so it was a no brainer to turn it off.

This is a telling post. You still don't 'get' it on a personal level. And until you do I fear you will make no huge success from it professionally.

It's kinda like lurking on a forum before you post. You need to get a feel of the place, for the tonality, for what is popular, etc etc. I think it took me 6 months to make a post here!

Not having a go, just urging you to try finding interesting people to follow on a personal interest level, then you'll *get* the point of it all. I still don't think you have a feel for why it even exists, let alone why it's popular.

Your quite right, just figuring in out now

DatingGameExpert 10-26-2011 12:07 PM

LMAO, "Yeah, I'm prepping for a massive Twitter campaign in which retweets are vital" - no offense, but you sound like a typical webmaster tool, the way you talk.

Twitter is king. I have one of the HOTTEST Twitter accounts right now in the 6 digits range, growing at a crazy rate with engagement at a deadly level. It takes WORK, it takes a lot of psychology and honesty/integrity. There are so many copycats out there and even people who have been doing this for a few years who are barely breaking 2k users.

This is why this forum sucks now, most of you just don't get it. You're sleeping if you haven't embraced Twitter yet. Mostly though, not to brag but it takes people with great intuition and unrelenting creativity to get where I am currently at. No wonder most fail and give in so easily.

Edit: that's one week consisting of 7 tweets with a link. http://i.imgur.com/5sCj0.jpg

Markul 10-26-2011 12:10 PM

It's on total ignore here. Tried it for mainstream marketing and it was pretty useless. FB has much more value there.

Yeah okay, that made complete sense :1orglaugh

I'm just being real here. If you can't come at me with something, who's the fool? What you got? 2-3k followers? I can get that in 5 hours.
