Have you switched to Ruby (or Ruby on Rails)?

We've had these discussion threads on GFY in the past but a lot can happen in 2 or 3 years. How do you feel about Ruby and Ruby on Rails in September 2011? I'm mostly experienced in php, and as far as frameworks go I leaned toward CodeIgniter in the past. I have recently found an appreciation for Ruby with or without Rails.

No way. I wouldn't touch it. Rails is nice but kind of an over-hyped buzzword. I've been doing more in Python lately and have been using Django some as well. You should check it out. Python is such a pretty language.
    I like pie.

I've wanted to in the past and it still pops up every now and then, but the issue with tabs and whitespace always put me off. I should probably just check it out.

Check out Scala and it's frame work Lift if you want the big leagues. Twitter has switched most of it's core code to it from RoR.

Having worked in both they're practically the same.

I like Ruby syntax more than I do Python.
            I'm out.

They're very similar for sure. Honestly I have nothing but respect for Ruby. It's just not for me. I'm a little biased though. I know a couple of the guys who created django. I know a lot of people are put off by whitespace sensitivity and indentation. I personally love the indentation. It forces me to write code that's easy to read.

I use a text editor with good indent guides when I write Python and I feel like I have found coding nirvana.
