Dutch tilt, Dutch angle, Dutch shot, oblique angle, German angle, canted angle, Batman angle, or Jaunty angle (in non-cinematic static photography) are terms used for one of many cinematic techniques often used to portray the psychological uneasiness or tension in the subject being filmed.

A Dutch angle is achieved by tilting the camera off to the side so that the shot is composed with the horizon at an angle to the bottom of the frame. Many Dutch angles are static shots at an obscure angle, but in a moving Dutch angle shot the camera can pivot, pan or track along the director/cinematographer's established diagonal axis for the shot.

The term 'jaunty' was popularised by use with hats being placed at an inclined angle and this term has been adopted in the early 21st century by those using their camera on a similar incline.

We used 8 different light sources, including different gels to cast various colors on the palm fronds and flowers. It took a long time to set up, and then we raced like hell against the sun...fun times!

These are all just quick and dirty test pix - the model's usually like immediate feedback, so I grab a few random pix, touch them up very little, and send them to the model. Occasionally I post some samples here to remind people what I do, and for the feedback.

Some are obviously over-saturated (also I did these on one of my Macs that is not gamma corrected for PCs, so I have no idea what you are seeing...

I won't actually start seriously editing until I am ready to post the pix. I have some photos sets and videos from 5 years ago that I haven't started editing, and have a total backlog of several hundred photo sets and videos.

Time for me to unwind now...
