Screw FF its been crashing and bogging my machine for 6 months.

Anyone else switch back to IE?

Despite its many shortcomings, Firefox usually isn't slow on its own. Try disabling plugins until you find the culprit. I've had the Skype, Google, and Seoquake plugins cause memory and crashing problems.

Google was the worst, followed by Skype.

I use Chrome but some stuff is incompatible with it so my backup is firefox. I will deal with that pain in the ass to avoid having to use the super shitty IE.

Latest versions of FF seem to load sites slower like their early versions, if anything I'll go back to chrome, definitely not ie.

I stayed with IE for a long time but eventually went to FF. I'm used to how it operates now, but it's very frustrating to see it using 200k-500k of memory when IE will use 20 or 30k.

Seems FF has become what they protested, bulky and bloated. Hell I don't even run a lot of plug-ins. Just FireBug and Ad Blocker.

Firefox is the best browser for work hands down. With the wealth of plugins available you can easily turn it into the powerhouse to perform your daily tasks, and it can also be used as your enternaiment center. The amount of flexibility it offers is amazing and it isn't matched by any other browser yet.

Yes this flexibility has it's downsides such as crashes, but the most common reason for that is some poorly manufactured plugin. You just need to figure it out which one is causing you trouble and disable it (it's easy, usually it's the most recent one :-))

AdBlock Plus and Element Hider Helper are the two most amazing pieces of browser software I ever used. With their help you can strip any site to basically bare and use only those functions you need. It helps a lot when you need to browse such cluster fucks of crappy "features" and ads as illegal tubes are to check if your stolen stuff is there. You guys probably wouldn't even recognize pornhub the way I see it in my FF

Opera is great too, I use it to check stats and read boards such as this one. Since they have added Adblock Plus a couple of months ago, I couldn't be any more happier with it

Sticking with Firefox 3.6.x for as long as I can...

Eventually 3.6.x will no longer be supported / won't run well ... at which point, just like back when Netscape jumped the shark, I'll switch to MSIE again.

As for why it seems Firefox is self-destructing, it's noteable much of their funding comes from Google - a huge conflict of interest - the more people abandon Firefox, the more Google Chrome benefits ... something to ponder.

I found a script the other day which I thought looked great, then I read the supported browsers didn't mention IE. So I loaded it in IE and sure enough, it didn't work and said so.

Despite IE still having 40% market share, I decided I didn't care. Though I'm not going to use it on a site aimed at total dumbasses, so people are probably more likely to not use IE anyway. When I have aimed sites at dumbasses, making sure it works on IE is obviously a priority.

Since IE is steadily declining, and I get the impression that Microsoft doesn't care that much about it any more, and 'everyone' hates it, I'm surprised they even bother to come out with new versions.

I was just looking at this yesterday, about the most commonly used browser, by country:

Blue: MS Internet Explorer

Orange: Mozilla Firefox

Green: Google Chrome

Red: Opera

Latest firefox loads just as quick as chrome and quicker when both browsers have extensions enabled. Sites that are laden with javascript seem to load quicker in chrome.

Since google has the frame of the browser appear instead of a splash screen that has fooled a lot if people into thinking its load time is faster kind of like they reached into Apple's bag if tricks.
