    Wordpress Plugins - What I use. Which ones am I missing?

    Here's what I'm using. What am I missing that you use on your blogs? cough fris cough vrocks cough senator

    I'll bend over and cough if necessary

    - 404 Redirection (noticed google was indexing a testing page I'd posted that was deleted, hence this plugin that redirects 404's to my main page)
    - Add From Server (because I want to upload stuff with SFTP)
    - Akismet
    - Pretty Link Lite (for masking outbound links and link management. Bookmarked Fris's suggestion for when I have more blogs and want to buy it)
    - Quick Cache (for that F5 we fly yanomsayn)
    - Video Embed & Thumbnail Generator (the best video x264 ffmpeg encoder plugin I've found. I pre-encode on my videos on my PC using Handbrake and use it mostly to display videos and generate thumbnails without having to do it manually) This plugin is new, and the maintainer "isn't a programmer" somehow.. He's helped me out personally getting things working right for me. Highly recommended.
    - WordPress SEO (Joost)
    - Google Analytics for Wordpress (Joost)
    - Google XML Sitemaps (because I had it installed before yoast seo plugin)

    I have a bunch of twitter plugins installed and de-activated because they either don't work or are kinda stupid.. Haven't really found a good option.

    Now get yer lazy asses into your WP-Admin and spill the beans suckas.

      I sometimes use "WP Archive-Sitemap Generator" it conveniently lists all your posts or pages on one page for easy navigation. Thanks for that 404 redirection plugin recommendation...I'll have to try that.

                          A new one I just found is "Automatic SEO Links"

                          Basically you tell it a keyword and link and it will search through your text on pages and posts and add in the link.

                              My big issue was that I was using Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 which is no longer supported, and therefore couldn't upgrade FFMpeg without a lot of fuss. One of the ffmpeg -switches had changed, and so he added some error handling to deal with older versions of ffmpeg.

                              Even without that I was still able to locally encode myself in MP4 and just not use the "Encode" button the plugin provides though.

                              Another issue I've come across is that it encodes to multiple file formats (mp4, webm, ogv I think) and since I don't use the encoding feature, it's missing those formats. Therefore in my error logs I see 404's for the missing files, which likely isn't good for robots/seo. I brought it to his attention and he said he'll get it fixed, and that it's not supposed to do that.

                                                  Or just make sure your theme is responsive so you don't have to worry about a separate theme for mobile users.

                                                                  Hands down my new favorite is ffmpeg video converter plugin for wordpress. It works like a champion for me.

                                                                  It saves me a ton of time encoding videos right into word press without having to waste time doing it on my desktop. Now, I can use word press for everything from a tube style site to my members area.


                                                                  W3 Total Cache is a staple too for those with busy sites.

                                                                                              Using Wordpress has become so complicated and anal retentive that you might as well make your sites by hand.

                                                                                              Its quicker, more secure, and your less prone to OMG GOOGLE BAN! optimization bullshit to just write sites without that arrogant, bloated "CMS".

                                                                                                                      Automatic SEO Links I deactivated quickly because it only does the first mention of the words in a post, which doesn't fit my blogging style. The owner wrote he did it on purpose because he personally doesn't like blogs that link the same words more than twice.

                                                                                                                              Thanks I was *just* thinking like an hour ago I wonder how to order my link categories in another way than just alphabetical order, maybe this solves that.

                                                                                                                              I also sometimes use StatPress Visitors (also just called StatPressV) and I like how it puts per-post stats + graphs when you're looking at all your posts in the admin area, so you can see which posts are popular, etc.

                                                                                                                                      In fact, when I ordered the plugin the order was never fulfilled so I was ready to do a chargeback but the biller helped me get a working download. Kinda looks like the project is dead since the guy is MIA.

Or you have to edit every wp-config.php file ?
