You know what, reading another thread about Putin I wanted to make a poll similar to this one. The admiration of Putin on this forum had encouraged me. He actually is a world class leader. He pulled a huge country (16 time zones !) out of such a deep ass. Think of him as of Martin Luther King + Ron Paul that succeeded. ;)

corruption, lobbying, political careerism, unnecessary spending, unnecessary (gov) growth, financing unnecessary wars, etc.
Google knows a thing or two about indexing, organizing and storing (infrastructure) enormous amounts of data - this involves high level of automation, optimization and organisational skills along with money management (which imho govs fail to achieve). I believe hiring a tech company for a job or consultancy to set new govermental infrastructure, someone like Google, could significantly optimize spending and reduce and balance countries or global budgets after indexing and analyzing all data of course with greater efficiency than what any government will ever be able to achieve. and no, i'm not advocating here to give full control to some corporation, I'm talking about government v2 - optimized, cost-effective and technologically advanced if not sophisticated
of course it's just a far-fetched dream-pipe idea where government actually serves its people not just special interests and constantly improves and optimizes its functionality.Comment

Who said that he was 'an epitome of free speech'? I saw a guy who had 2000 followers in twitter under his real name and he twitted things like 'Putin is a faggot' and when asked why he replied that it's because there is no freedom of speech in Russia. Look, writing an article in spiegel it is really easy to turn the story around whichever way you want, any decent journalist can do it (which is why I hate them) for example in Russian state owned media this story is portrayed completely different, so my opinion is that we shouldn't judge people in other countries based on tabloid reports in our own countries if can't hear their direct speech as it is the only way to really understand them.
Besides there are a lot of anti-Putin protests in Moscow just a couple of days ago protesters called on march towards Kremlin in an attempt to kick Putin out of there, they were also detained and released the same day.
