Hosting companies feedback - update credit card forms

I use 5 hosting companies - Cyberwurx, ISPrime, Amerinoc, Hosthead, Mojohost and only Cyberwurx is offering a complete online form to update my credit card without having to send emails back and forth to billing support. In Cyberwurx it takes me 1 min to update.

Webmasters need an online form with the following fields:

Card Type (optional, if you have automatic detection)
    Card Number
    Card Security Code
    Card Expiration Date

...for example my credit cards cannot be charged without the Security Code (and I get a new security code each time my CC is renewed), so the Security Code field must be present. What happens, is I go and update my credit card, then when you try to charge it, the charge fails (because you don't have the Card Security Code), so you send me "Invoice Payment Reminder" emails saying "We tried to bill you automatically but were unable to" ...and we spend more time exchanging emails and filling forms.

We need to be more efficient than that.

I especially liked the automatic detection part for the card type. Getting all high tech up in this piece.

It sounds like an issue between their shopping card and merchant account API.

I could be mistaken, but that is what it sounds like to me in short based on the few details provided. We have around 400 web hosting clients, and never run across this issue with billing. That said, maybe we've just been lucky.

Strange you can control this in your billing manager at DWHS. They also have a separate form if you want them to do it.

                  Hi,

Thanks for contacting support... oh, wait... OK, posting here since you opened a ticket and pointed us to this thread.

The simple answer is because we don't need to collect it after the initial transaction at this time under the current regulations and agreements with our merchant providers and gateways.

Once you have been verified on the first transaction and are recurring in most gateways it will not be needed again. It is also illegal under Visa/MC regulations to store the CVV2 security code, except in some rare situations from what I understand, regardless, we don't need to and I have never seen a card declined yet for this AFTER the initial transaction with our merchant accounts/gateways. Even though this is a new CC for you and our system it will be presented to the gateway as a recurring transaction that is already in the system. We have clients update their cards daily and it has never been an issue. I looked over your 3 accounts in our billing system going back to 2009, you've updated your card with us before and not once have you ever had your card fail with us that I see, so I'm not sure why we are included in your list... but at least you know why we don't collect this on updates now. If you are getting declined with other hosts you will need to ask them about it.

As stated, they are not allowed to use the security code for future billing. The whole point of the security code is that it's not to be stored anywhere, ever, so it proves that you have the card rather than stole the information out of someone's database.

If your charges don't normally go through without it, double check that your CC issuer has your address completely correct.
