There are beggers in the streets people without any where to live, rats are taking over London. Power cuts every day, No food in the shops and massive queues at the job centers. The red cross and other charitys are setting up soup camps and giving out free dirty blankets, The sewage stations have almost stopped working so drinking tap water is a no no. There are also bandits gioing around mugging and robbing people Its a desperate scene over here ...

In the early 80's, when I first moved to the US from London, I'd sometimes get letters from friends or relatives in England. They all pretty much said the same thing, which can be paraphrased as: "It's raining here, please send money."
