Getting an office/desk space is the best thing you can do. it separates business from your personal life and helps you focus on each of those things fully when needed. I am a big believer in renting office space.

What kind of space do you have? In Brooklyn?
I just got back to the city last week, need a desk for 2 months, and am leaning towards getting a desk at 611 broadway @ houston

It used to be a TGP/MPG and got about 10-15k visitors a day but wasn't making sales. I didn't bother to set it back up when I switched servers. Had about 10k galleries on it, with about 100k photos / videos.

Depends on what you need really... If you are a 1 man operation than maybe you're fine in a home office. I was fine in a home office until i started having kids and such and then i needed a seperation between my home and work life. Not fun having a conference call with a big company and then one of your kids runs in and tells you that you just ran out of toilet paper LOL!

I know lots of people that love to work from home and it works for them but i find for myself being in an office is much more productive for me. Plus having the ability to walk into the next office and talk to a colleague is a lot more personal than an IM conversation

Home office is the best ... no commute .. and the coffee is all yours.

You have to maintain a working schedule. For me - I am online at 7am and go to about 6pm each day. My laptops / smartphone is always around for calls / emails that are important post hours.

I take 30 mins for lunch .. and no TV in the office. This works for me as I can get everything done.

also you have to have a dedicated office in the house. I have a back bedroom that is my space for work only. On "non work hours" I have a LAN set up in the house in another room so I do get some "out of the office" time.

Seems crazy to me that anyone goes to get work done in public at a Starbucks, especially porn related work.

I have 2 dedicated rooms for office space in my home ...
Desks and office furniture.

My commute is 40 ft to my office and work or I commute to Rotterdam 6294km to the office.

I need a Lear Jet and a house in Rotterdam ... working on that :)

@the thread, it really depends how self motivated you are, if you need to be away from home to work, an office rented seperatly is your best move, if you are dedicated & can continue working for an extra hour after feeling like sitting back, then stay home, save the travel & enjoy being in your own home with an office available at 2 in the morning :2 cents:

Everyone should have both. An office in the house for days you just don't feel like going anywhere or late night sessions on the computer for stuff like GFY.
But you need to have a real office.
1. I love my employees we are like one big happy family, but that doesn't mean I want them at my house all the time.
2. I love the girls that work for me, they pay all my bills but I don't want their alcoholism, drug addictions, boyfriend and husband drama, etc. etc. at my house all the time.
3. Massive amounts of props, lingerie, dildos, vibrators, anal lube, etc. etc. are all tools of my trade but I don't want them laying around my house all the time.

I think you can see that everyone needs an escape. You need to go home. If your work is at your home there is no where to escape too.
Do yourself a favor and drop at least a couple hundred a month for a small office somewhere. You can go cheap because it doesn't have to be in the main part of town because you need customers and walk in traffic. Hit the backstreets, sidestreets, any old streets just find some cheap rent and get the fuck out of your house so when the day is done you can go home and relax. It's Miller time or whatever the hell you do.

I finally got an office, through Regus exec suites. I love it, it is 2 miles from my house, I bike to it and pack a lunch.

It has allowed me to separate my work from life emails, files, etc. as well as just being able to leave work at work.

And biking here and back combined with not being at my house with my fridge hasn't been bad either.

I highly recommend it.

As for the argument against getting an office citing traffic; Totally baseless, Why would you leave your home at 9am and leave work at 5pm. Adjust as necessary, you are still your own boss. I get to the office at ten am and work until around 7pm to be home for a late dinner.

I also hate Mondays so I take a three day weekend.

Offices rock.

How much do you pay with regus? I been meaning to try them out when I am traveling.

I pay $917 a month. However my office is a bit on the large side as I am working on a start-up with a few partners who occasionally drop by.

I worked in free conference room time, which they usually bill you additionally for, since at times I need to have meetings with 8+

It is also on Lake Washington with a nice view of the Olympic Mtns and the Carrillon Point Marina.

It is working out great so far.

Thought about getting an office. But how do you recruit people to do the admin work when it is adult? I think if someone comes to 'admin office work' job interview and then finds they will be writing descriptions and what not for porn movies all day they will not take job.

Sit back down, literally 1 second later, knocks again. I smile. Answer the door, asks another question. Now I'm going to the bank for her - in another city.

And this is why I sleep during the day and stay up all night.

This is how I cured my problem for a couple of years... but then even that burned me out...

I have found that if I go to bed at between 9pm and 10pm, then wake up at 5am I have the most productive day.

I like watching Angels, Lakers and Red Wings games... they often start around 7pm, but sometimes they start at 3pm to 5pm if they play an East Coast team... So even the early games allow me to work "overtime"!

Then when I "get off" around 2pm I have lots of time during the peak hours of the day to go to the gym, shop, get car work done, work on the yard/garden, etc...
