He's had a good run and so have his shareholders. Apple stock is up 9020% since he came back to Apple in 1997. The stock will get dinged today but Apple isn't going anywhere. Today or tomorrow is probably a good day to buy Apple stock.

Say what you want but when I think of the last three apple innovations each one changed my life pretty significantly.
Running is one of my passions and this thread made me think about the first time I ran with my new iPod, seriously changed my life more then any device every had.
And changed in a positive way, it made running even more enjoyable and connected me to music that I loved even faster.
The iPhone gave me endless hours of enjoyment with the first few apps. Can anyone really say the pouring beer app wasn't' the coolest fucking thing the first time you saw it. I loved it.
Lastly the iPad. I am working on a start-up now and the iPad is finally the device that has allowed me to ditch my laptop and PC for demos. I can almost use it exclusively, it is a game changer.
Say what you want about greed and ego, but saying the products are "crap" just makes you sound retarded. There isn't a company in the world that wouldn't seal their batteries in a heart beat to have Apple's success.\

no kidding, I've had an mp3 probably close to a decade before ipod came out... it only had like 16MB of memory, but at that time it was some elite shit... had a voice recorder built in too... I had hours and hours of fun with that thing, it worked well and wasn't even that expensive at that time, $100 or something, cheaper than the ipod that they sell 15 years later...

A few others follow over the next couple years.
Then in 2000 we get the IAudio by Cowan.
Then a year later, after a multitude of other players have launched, Jobs jumps into the fray with the IPod
