My dad has an iPad with nothing but the apps that came with it installed. He hasn't gotten bitten by the app bug yet and from the get go...the iPad does what he wants. Email and Internet browsing.

My mom got one of these yesterday and out of the box, it has more slightly functionality than the iPad. But the basics are pretty much identical. The Touchpad, like the iPad has email, internet browsing, chat, video and music. It also has Flash, which the iPad doesn't.

Again, they don't get the app idea just yet. But from a typical user standpoint, they have pretty much the same gadget. One cost $599 the other cost $99. It's not difficult to see the value in that.

Yeah it seems like basically you are trading the ability to get a million different apps on the ipad for being able to do flash on the touchpad. Aside from that they look pretty damn similar other than the fact that HP will no longer be supporting them.

16gb is selling on Ebay like hotcakes for $200 and the 32gb for $320... When Android port comes out for them you can probably get an extra $50 on each.

Barnes and Nobel screwed me on my order too. They took it and sent me a confirmation, then just sent me and email 15 hrs later saying that due to demand my order will not be filled. WTF is that?

I was trying at Tiger Direct too.. reading comments on a blog post when someone mentioned zones.com, and I was able to place a "confirmed" order with them.. but the site was super slow, and I'm sure I'll end up getting jack shit for my 2 hour effort. But will let you know if it goes through.

As of now, the order was placed and confirmed. Knowing my luck today, I'll be replying with a denial message soon.

I got very lucky. I read a post on Woot that said someone bought one of these at a Radio Shack. So I stopped in at the Radio Shack in my town expecting there to be nothing and they had one 16gb touchpad left for $99. So I did get one. Haven't played with it much. I need to install a wireless network in my house first.

If you have a Radio Shack near you give them a call they might have one.

I finally got one today.. and not from my zones.com order (which will be canceled).

Picked up a 32gb today from my local BEST BUY store. I called them yesterday and they told me they were getting a shipment in that night and would be putting it for sale the next morning.

Sure enough, when I got there.. there was already a line of nutters waiting at the door, so I sat and waited with them for 20 minutes and then got it :thumbsup

Thanks to CandyFlip, because I probably wouldn't have gotten one without his posts to motivate me, I was going to pass.

But $150 for 32gb is just too cheap to pass up.

What do you think of it so far? I just finished watching someone on mine via Hulu Plus.
