If agents don't want their models "stolen", then they should take steps to build stronger relationships with them. If a model is not happy with who is repping her, no one should be surprised when she moves on.

Tiffany Thompson was being repped by Metro and they were booking her for shoots (many of which she never showed up for)... while at the same time... she was out interviewing new agents to rep her. Perfect example of what happens when a model and an agent don't have a solid relationship.

Agents don't "steal" models from other agents. If a model goes with another agent, it was because she wasn't happy with her current agent and it was her decision to move on.

How could someone spend $40k on a model as an agent? I mean an agent might lose some flight and hotel costs, booking fees, housing, driver or other expenses that were supposed to be recouped. But $40k? Seems like a far stretch.

Unless you meant she was stolen by someone and brought to other producers against the wishes of a producer or site owner who had signed her and spent $40k in costs to produce content with that particular model supposedly under an exclusive services contract. In that case, the remedy would be to sue the model for breach of contract and/or sue the new agent or other producers who hired the model for what is usually called tortious interference.

it wasn't an agent, it was Rico from Panchodog. JayRock found a model named Meggan in Texas, and I introduced him to Rico who has run some of the most successful solo girl sites on the Net - KatieFey.com, FelicityFey.com, AndiPink.com, ArielRebel.com. Rico signed the girl to a contract for a solo girl site and spent 40K on her as Meggan Powers. Jay was new to LA and Meggan was staying with him, Jay asked Rico if Meggan could shoot for Stephen Hicks or Ron Harris, i forget which, she shot for both. Jay dropped her off and by the time he returned the agent in question was at the location and voila - she became his talent and was booked around and then signed to a VIVID Girl contract as Meggan Malone. She never shot again for the solo site she had signed a valid legal contract for.

I'd blame the photographer as much as the model poacher - you send a girl to a set there should be no other agent on the premises while she is there.

I would just like to add that a lot of models, maybe even *most* models in my experience, bounce from agent to agent for a whole host of other reasons that have nothng to do with a logical business decision or career plan. Most commonly they do so:

1- Because they are irresponsible and miss shoots and get fined by their agents and don't want to pay their fines.

2- Because they don't want to pay their booking percentage or travel or driver costs to their agent.

3- Because they have personality conflicts with their agent; because they meet another agent who promises them bigger and better opportunities.

4- Because they meet another model that they become friends with who happens to have a different agent.

5- Because they are messed up on drugs, drama or boyfriend issues some days and their original agents get fed up with dealing with them.

6- Because they decide to book shoots directly with certain producers.

7- And all kind of other reasons too varied to explain .

I sometimes laugh to myself when I get emails and I see the same pain in the ass, druggie, flakey model on her fourth of fifth agent in a year.

Mutt, it's impossible to police that and unrealistic to think that a producer, photographer or anyone can prevent a model from speaking to other models or agents in the course of their work and possibly getting tempted to seek new opportunities elsewhere. If your friend spent $40k to build a whole site around a model and if he insisted on exclusivity then the only plausible way to try to enforce that exclusivity would be with an exclusive services contract, just like Vivid themselves uses. If he didn't bother getting her to sign a contract like that then he was foolish to fail to do so. If he *did* get her to sign a contract like that then he was foolish not to hire one of the savvy industry attorney's to bring action against Vivid for tortious interference or whatever other strategies the attorney might devise.

When you're an agent and send your talent to a set there should be no rival agents on that set. I know it's impossible to stop the girl from meeting other agents through the connections they make in the biz and on set.

Rico had a legal exclusive services contract with the girl and wanted to sue but in the end he decided not to go through with it. Litigation is expensive and stressful so he decided to just move on.

By the time I felt that I was good enough to shoot for magazines, magazine subscriptions were on the decline and the internet was booming. And after watching Stephen Hicks deal with headaches caused by dealing with magazines back in 2001, I had zero interest in pursuing that avenue. But I love how you constantly put yourself up on a pedestal because you shot for magazines. We all bow to your greatness :bowdown
