I'm wondering how tough it would be to get Android running on one. Both Android and the Touchpad's webOS are based on Linux kernel, so I should be able to get it to boot. Getting all of the hardware, such as wireless, working right is another matter.

If all you do is normal stuff anyway this will work for you without Android. It will surf the web, work with flash based sites, Facebook, Twitter, Email, all of that shit. It just won't have a huge collection of games and other shit. But again, if you are looking for an Internet computer with a touch interface you can kick it with or watch videos on... it works for all of that without Android.
Currently there are Android hackers working on bringing Android 3.0 to this device. I imagine it will have a working version in as little as 2 months. By 6 months a stable version will be available.
So... If you have a desire for a tablet this is a great option. If you have $25,000 sitting in your ass (Choker) and you want to make some decently quick cash, I suggest buying 225 of these and then paying someone $2500 to switch them to Android when it comes out and reselling them for $222 (or the price of one cams PPS!) for a quick double on your money.
HP.CA has them.
Main page says $150 for 32gb, but when you order comes out full price.
They still have the 32gb in stock. I put in an order. Engadget is saying that people who bought at regular price before will also be given refunds. So I just gotta call Monday and make sure they charge the right amount. If not worse case scenario I just send it back.
more proof without the Apple ecosystem, other pads are destined to fail with their current setup no matter what specs the tablets are. Apple has the apps, music, videos down, no one is gonna challenge their Ipad without getting those ducks in a row, obviously google has the best chance and will eventually surpass apple.

Really? When I am in Android Market I am noticing that a lot of apps are now optimized for both handheld and tablets. Many have a whole different look and feel if installed on a tablet.
Looks like developers are being proactive even though Android tablet sales are kind of blah now.
Everything seems to be sold out online and its too hot out to go looking store to store. I gave my wife my ipad , i really want a 7 in tablet. It will interesting to see what amazon comes out with.
I was able to grab a couple off best bestbuy this am before they sold out. I noticed one just sold on ebay for 225.00 wtf are they thinking lol
