    "Here your mom was asking about evolution, and you know it's a theory that's out there, and it's got some gaps in it," Perry said. "In Texas, we teach both creationism and evolution in our public schools ? because I figure you're smart enough to figure out which one is right."

    Asking 12 years old to pick the one they like the most between creationism and evolution on the basis that they are "smart enough"... right....

      a lot of people will vote for him in the primaries. Make no mistake about it what he is saying strikes a deep chord in the hearts of the far social right wing. From what I understand Jon Huntsman shocked everyone when he admitted to believing in *gasp* science

                                                      Ethically, I don't see much wrong teaching children about religion in school. Granted, we shouldn't be trying to indoctrinate them, and it definitely shouldn't be taught as a scientific alternative to evolution, but it's still a good thing to know about culturally.

                                                      Constitutionally, I don't think it should be allowed in public schools.

                                                      I'm atheist-agnostic, btw. That said, religion is one of my favorite studies.
