          I read it and it has no real usable info in it. It sounds like for some reason the Canadian shut down his business for some reason or another. He won't say what the business was or why it was shut down. It also sounds like for some reason or another he can't get another job.

          Here is what I don't understand. In the US we have food stamps. If you have no income they will give you money to buy food. We also have food banks where families can go to get free food. It isn't great, but it can get you by. Do these things not exist in Canada?

              We do have food banks and such. No stamps that I know of, but there are avenues.

                                                                                  I was thinking about this in the last few minutes as his page was open in my browser.

                                                                                  There is an interesting point there to be made. I don't think that any homeless people on the street could generally be described as being highly intelligent and/or of sound mind. That person would be the exception anyway and not the rule. The vast majority often suffer from one or more mental illnesses, most common are conditions such as schizophrenia or other things like severe addictions. That said, it would be normal to be a little rambling and to not make much sense and to omit obviously important details. I would guess that either the guy is severely disturbed himself, or its not real at all. The more i'm thinking about it, what he wrote is fairly consistent with both scenarios.

                                                                                                                                  Not only do we have huge amounts of welfare available for all, even people who are new to the country. We have EXTREMELY loose disability programs that pay people VERY well for things such as... someone who has taken too many drugs or have drank too much and cannot work a job, extreme lethargy, minor psychological problems such as social anxiety will get you out of work. Lower back pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, these kinds of injuries pay off extremely well in this country. Also if you are a woman and decide to get pregnant 5 or 6 times the government will pay you more for each one, you get a triple score bump to your 'salary' if you have a child with some form of disability as well! If you have managed to eat too much of this free food and find your self at about 250 lbs or more all you would need is a doctors note (doctors give these out easily here) and you will never have to work again because this counts as a disability too! Not only can you claim being too fat to work, you can also get a free scooter bike so you can block local traffic on the roads riding 5 km's an hour on your way to burger king for whopper wednesdays...

Even the street people around here eat fine.

                                                                                                                                  I am fully aware that anyone can get in a pinch, even the most honest of us over the course of their lives, and that these programs can be helpful if that ever does happen, but people treat these programs as careers.. and that is fucking horrible.

                                                                                                                                          good post. i will say in cases where people live in the far, far north things can be pretty bad, no running water, etc but in any urbanized area, people have no real excuse.
