Will they ever legalize gambling sites in the U.S

As the economy is in such a state what are the chances of gambling sites becoming legal?
So much revenue must be going down the pan.

I'm from the UK we're spoon fed gambling from every direction so I find it bizarre that gambling sites are still banned over there.
Five years ago a friend of mine was unemployed but he was quite a good poker player.
He applied for a business start up grant under a government scheme to help him set up as a professional poker player.
He was successful and got a £200 grant to go playing poker with.
(thats why the UK is neck high in shit now)

I think there are a number of largely historical reasons which will prevent gambling sites being legalized in the USA.

Not until they find a way to properly tax it... Look at it this way: If the US gov can't make money from it, then it gets banned/outlawed/made illegal.

I have a feeling they one day will be. At first I think the big casino companies didn't want it and used their lobby to stop it because they wanted people to come to them to gamble, but I saw a big story a few weeks ago where the major casinos are now petitioning congress to legalize it because they realize with their brand and recognizable name they could really cash in online and it likely wouldn't hurt their walk in business much.

I think eventually those lobbies will get their way and we will see it legal. When it will happen is anyone's guess. Right now congress can't agree on what color the sky is.

I have no idea why it was ever illegal. Our government can be fucking stupid sometimes.

whats even more stupid is that, in some states, you have to be a native american tribe in order to open a casino.

i wonder what tribe do wall street bankers come from? gekko tribe.
