you are giving them a suit at show hotel and giving them a seminar. tell us are you really against them? sorry it smells fishy to me! :uhoh |

LA, Vegas,Phoenix, SF. etc This is nothing new, you want controversy, action at shows/ seminars, then you do what it takes.:2 cents: |

As event organizer you might better take the money, than at least someone has some profit. Maybe they just put chicks in front of the hotel with .xxx shirts. But if you need that to promote your business, it is a little bit pitiful. If anyone has anti .xxx promtional material, i can put in on a table. But you can boycot them, we have seen what happens with the tubes, they are part of the industry now. And for the right price everyone is for sale. At a consumer show you can't stop them, they just give money to big pornstars to use a .xxx domain. And if they are creative, 1001 more options are available. I know a representive of .xxx signed up at the webmaster meeting. But i don't think my registration form works if 10 .xxx promo babes sign up. looking forward to suggestions :) |

Desperation calls. Quote:
Stuart Lawley vs Tom Hymes Stuart Lawley vs _________ Where were these head on debates with Lawley at the shows BEFORE .XXX was passed? Shows are going to ride this wave until the novelty wears off. But really, who cares? .XXX is a reality now. There is nothing anyone is going to say or do that is going to change it. Well, one thing thing that changed is now they are getting their own suites, sponsoring shows and welcomed into the industry because "money talks." Pathetic really. Or, it just shows you who was silently in support of .XXX to begin with. |
i don't like the idea of .xxx but i am against boycotting them or not allowing them entrance or whatever. let them come, sponsor, party or whatever - it's fine with me. at the end it's up to everyone to make up his own mind if he wants to buy their domains or not.
and compared to many others in this "industry" at least their business is legit, can't say that about a lot of others who regularly attend shows, are "Bros" and meanwhile fuck over their surfers. :2 cents: |

I did that to Stuart when he sat opposite me speed networking. He refused to answer and sat there with his arms crossed sulking. Fucking funny! |

ICM doesn't need to sponsor an event to get exposure it's being given to them for free. Having the Stuart Lawley vs Tom Hymes debate gives them a big platform for zero cost, then every trade publication will report on it giving them more press.
I suppose it goes back to the old adage, any press is good press and this is .xxx's way of getting as much exposure as they can. They are here to stay and the only way to boycott them is to not buy a .xxx domain, how many of you will actually refrain from rushing to land some 2 or 3 letter .xxx's? |

But i will buy some. I haven't got trademarks on my domains and it was annoying that i had to wait 5 years till somebody dropped the .com of my domain and i could get it from quarantaine. But i won't develop it and decided to register only my most important domains. Not happy, they cost me money for nothing and no chicks for free. |

Are they lying or are you doing damage control? I don't see them (or any other) "Suite Sponsors" on your site. Did they arrange that suite through WMA (and did WMA receive a premium for it) or did they book directly through the hotel, with the WMA staff all unawares that .XXX was "sneaking in"? Let's make it easy: did AVN/WMA receive ANY money from ICM / .XXX / et al? XBIZ is not in the business of making up stories. |
Just so everyone is clear, the only reason I am posting in this thread is because some folks are claiming that XBIZ?s story is baseless and untrue.
I take that seriously. The news article was based on supporting material just like all other XBIZ news reports... |
I can confirm that they ARE sponsoring some events.....

I don't think they should be banned from shows.
We all like to go drink on someone's dime and never plan on doing biz with them. Do the same with .xxx :) |
ICM is not a threat to this industry like many other bro's who are allow to sponsor events, and buy spots on the illegal tubes.
Guys with illegal tubes, etc. are a threat to this industry, often attend shows in person, and are always represented at shows, at least by those who sell traffic for them. So fuck them and their shitty ass .xxx domain |

It's simple, it's down to what Madalton says. We're free to make our own decisions on the way our industry is going. If we don't buy into .xxx it will die, if we give them the chance to spend marketing a product we would never buy, they die faster. It's not just down to sponsors, affiliates who send traffic to sponsors with .xxx domain extensions are the same. So goes for NATS, designers and yes content providers. Ultimately it's up to us to stop being ass raped by people and not bending over offering them the chance. Our future is in our hands. |

This type of short sightedness (idiocy) has been over and over again in online porn. The industry supported Acacia supporters, sites ripping off members, sites selling crap, sites fucking affiliates, sites supporting Tubes and now what will it do about sites buying .xxx extension? FUCK ALL. |

Let's face it .xxx is here and it's not going anywhere, the only thing webmasters can do to boycott is not buy them.
AVN is giving them a platform with these Stewart Lawley vs. whoever debates, the time to debate is over, they have been approved by ICAAN and will soon be selling to the masses. All AVN is doing is giving them free press and a platform to get their message out. I suppose if they took sponsorship money at least they'd make something for all the exposure that's being given at no charge at the moment. |
I forecast a similar surfer support at .mobi.
