I am sorry if it sounded that way. I really don't like ANYONE right now. White people aren't my favorite people, that is for sure, and I've got nothing against black folks. Black people have treated me better than white people have and that is for sure. They even accepted me and did business with me when white people wouldn't.

When I was putting my woman through school years ago she would whine about the "minority" students laughing about their grants and all of this while never showing up anyway.. and the management was telling her to come up with money because she "made too much" even though she had NO INCOME

I have two funny high-school stories that relate to this thread. The first is that during our talent show.. 5 of my white high school friends dressed up as the Jackson 5, they went to a thrift shop and purchased 70's clothing, got clown wigs and painted them black, and of course painted their faces and hands brown. They pulled into the school in the one guys mom's Pontiac Parisienne, blasting Cyprus Hill, and I think every black person in the school turned their head. When they got out of the car, someone realized that they were white and it appeared that everything was about to go to hell at that point, but a friend who was black stepped in, and told them that they didn't mean anything by it.. it was all in fun. So I think it depends on the context that its taken in.

The second story shows how we see color. In our school we had about a 20% black population, lots of Italians, Portuguese, and were just starting to get Indians. So in this one class we had 4 black people A set of twins (brother and sister), this one guy Ewan, and a friend named Kevin, (think Carlton from Fresh Prince) Now it should be noted that this was the early 90's when the hip hop culture was still finding its roots up here. And that many of the black people in the school we had gone to grade school with, spoke just the way everyone else did, and hadn't adopted the black culture yet.

So this one Italian guy makes a reference to Indians and uses the term Packy. At which point the teacher snaps on him and says "How dare you use a derogatory term in this class" and makes reference to the fact that the only reason that he used the term was due to the fact that there were no people of Indian descent in the class room. And says that he would never have used the N word due to the fact that we had 3 black people in the class. At which point Kevin puts up his hand and says.. "Uh Miss, which one of us are you forgetting?" Knowing full well .. it was him.

In the Marines we were all green, and we had dark green Marines and light green Marines and no one saw that as racist, at least not in the Corps

I was raised in a poor place filled with whites, hispanics, and black people. Everyone for the most part was fine with one another, we were all poor. I know some of you guys live in Tampa, If you know where the Rembrandt projects were in Port Tampa, I spent most of my childhood in that neighborhood. I hear that it's a lot better now because those projects were torn down, was rougher in the late 80's, early 90's.

When I was like 15, my mom was able to get out of there and into a better area. I feel most of the racism on both sides comes from a generalized speculation of everyone based on past experiences with someone, or by listening to family/friends.

My best friend who happens to be black used to talk to me about racist shit he goes through on a daily basis. Let me share some of those points with everyone.

1. Quite a few people won't look him in the eye when hes walking down the street out of fear. Some others will give him dagger eyes out of fear.

2. Half of the time he gets followed around a store until he leaves. Some people think hes going to steal from them apparently.

Here is an example of what I am talking about.


3. When he goes to a party with his white friends he is usually the only black guy there. I don't think that is an intentionally racist thing, but its easy to feel out of place in a situation like that.

4. Police stopping him and giving him a hard time sometimes. Ive known em for 15 or so years he, isn't a liar.

He is a really awesome person and I truly feel bad for him to have to deal with shit like that on a daily basis. He has risen from nothing and now does lighting for some big events like cirque de sole, the ice skating shit, concerts, etc., does music and video work on the side, hes been a stunt cock for someone on this board as well lmfao. He went to Tampa found a way to get into college with almost nothing. the first week or two he lived out of his car and public restrooms. He is a fighter and a true inspiration.

With the above being said, I can see how some black people can become defensive over time. I'm not justifying it but I can understand it to an extent,. If you dislike all white people you're a racist as well though. Do I feel I should be attacked for using the word black? I don't, I've heard the term white boy get tossed around a lot. What about colored or the N word? Yeah I may deserve a punch to the face for that. You know what kind of a reaction you are after if you use those words. I think there needs to be more understanding from African Americans and Caucasian Americans. We are both to blame.

PS: I hope this wasn't offensive to anyone in any way, just sharing my personal views and experiences.
