Has anyone here owned or used a Big Green Egg?

Thinking about maybe buying a smallish one. Anyone have pros or cons about a Big Green Egg?

one of my old school chums sells woodstoves and fireplaces, and is a Big Green Egg Dealer ..

He swears by them, and has not touched a traditional grill in 5+ years now!

I have to admit ... the meat that comes off them is awesome!

I still have to get my money's worth out of my 1 year old Broil King grill before I can even think about upgrading ...

Yup. Love it. And a smaller one is a good idea...
People tend to say 'get the biggest one you can afford' - but you don't need the XL unless you're doing huge birds, big pizza's, etc..
I wish I had thought of getting the large + a small for $200 more than the XL...

I'd maybe also go for a primogrill next time instead...

            No worries..
            BTW - only cons are:
            1) gaskets you need to replace every couple of years (look into coltronics or nomex gaskets)
-the gaskets are necessary to seal out the air when you're doing low temperature smokes or when you close it off to snuff out the fire and preserve your charcoal.

            2) expensive for a charcoal bbq.. lots of other options for less (primo grill, big steel keg, webber)

            3) and of course, needing to keep a couple of bags of lump charcoal around.. I have a vermont casting signature hooked up to my natural gas line that I use for hotdogs, hamburgers, and other 'quick' meats...
