:stoned Who wants to go swimming? Worlds largest pool...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ards-long.html

It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water.

However I was always wondering why someone needs a pool when there's a sea/ocean in a walking distance...

It looks cool, but that's probably the dumbest place to put the biggest pool in the world.

Edit: Oh, it uses the sea water. Not that dumb, I guess.

Why would someone build such a huge pool right next to the ocean?

I went to a water park yesterday. It was nice and warm out, and the wave pool was cool.... It was fun really.

I don't understated these pools near the ocean. Ocean is the pool, everything else is for gays.

I'd feel more comfortable swimming in a giant pool then the ocean, and they save money and water by using seawater

It has. A lot of recent thought "unstoppable powerhouses" are no longer so. Dubai looks really cool, but from what I understand, some of the laws are too restricting for Westerners. I have to admit... if I'm shelling out 5, 10 figures for a vacation... I'm going to want some drinks.

Actually not true at all. As a visitor you can go to bars (bars can, by law, only be located in hotels) and drink as much as you'd like. As a visitor you can't purchase alcohol from an alcohol shop. As a resident you can apply for a permit to purchase alcohol from these shops, as long as you aren't muslim. As a muslim you can still drink at bars (not sure why they allow this but not the permits). In any case, it's actually a great place for a holiday AND you can drink ...

To each their own I guess. Some people actually like Dubai so unless you've tried it (or are racially biased and don't ever want to try it) I'm not sure how you can possibly pass judgement on the place.
