Plus on the comic book level I loved Archie and it still ticks me off that most kids don't know that is where Sabrina the Teenage Witch came from. Hmm, speaking of Archie I used to like the new Archie cartoon that was on NBC in the late 80's.

Shirttales was also on a good deal.

The Jetson's never got old.

hehe i even remember Jem cant say i watched it, my older sister even had the doll with light up earings,

(no i didnt play with it :feels-hot)

i stuck to my non moveable WWF figures hehe, pure plastic

Dawgy 01-29-2003 12:44 PM

my favorite part of all the old cartoons is all the subliminal messages. watch bugs sometime. roadrunner specifically. when he's runnin down the road being chased by coyote, they pass billboards. a lot of them say things like "SMOKE". you wouldnt catch it unless you were looking for it, or just were really attentive.

I had that doll ! The weird thing is that when I left for college (the last time I saw the doll)) the earrings still worked.

THANK YOU! Is that what is was called? I keep bringing that up in converations like these and non one every remembers it. It was based in the Nothern Territory or somewhere like that. I loved Gary Ganew.

Another one that I seem to be the only one to watch is one that came on really early on a Saturday morning. It featured two kids - a girl and a boy. One lived on earth and the other one in space and for some insane reason the kid on earth played the space kid Lauerl and Hardy films. Does anyone else remember this?

Plus for those Philly folks - Capt Noah ..no one was ever better.

Sarah_Jayne 01-29-2003 02:08 PM

just looked Gary Gnu up. He was on a show called 'The Great Space Coaster '

that black guy used to go to places and like suddenly dress up as knights and stuff heh

Sarah_Jayne 01-29-2003 02:40 PM

Reading Rainbow was wonderful. I still enjoy watching it when I am back in the states and with my little cousins. Geordie from Star Trek NG was/is(?) the host. I always think of Reading Rainbow when I watch it.

I kind of remember speedreader but not much other than he existed. I do remember that guy that wore the body suit that had all the organs of the body on it.

cold_ice 01-29-2003 02:40 PM

Voltron(the one with the lions)
scooby doo
flinstones

thundercats
Spider-man and his homies(ice-man was my fav)
MASK

Classic NG man.

As for me, my fav cartoons were Voltron... Transformers and Thundercats (I was in 7 yrs old watchin those... Oh, cant forget the Simpsons! And then around 11 - 12 yrs old I was in2 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Hmmm, not 80's, but in my teens, it was Beavis & Butthead. Then Southpark.

Now, me and my daughter watch Sponge Bob Squarepants. Funny shit!

CDSmith 01-29-2003 02:59 PM

I can't believe no one's said George of the Jungle yet.

I'm old.

evildick 01-29-2003 03:13 PM

Herculoids was always cool. Also, Deputy Dawg rocked.

But how about the worst cartoons instead of the good ones?

The ones I always HATED:

The Laff-O-Lympics.
- Combined a bunch of different Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters doing stupid races and events. I think I hated it because Blue Falcon and Dyno Mutt should have kicked their asses every time but they didn't.

Schmoo.
Just a white blob with a high pitched voice. They tried to give it credibility by combining it with Captain Caveman and I think even Scooby doo at some point, in the New Schmoo hour. Terrible all around. I think it was just a way to make things easier on their animators, since it had no arms or legs.

Scrappy Doo.
- Nothing else needs to be said about this abomination.

Tennesse Tuxedo
- I think you had to be on drugs to enjoy this.

MetaMan 01-29-2003 03:31 PM
