WTF Android? To many sms = crash OS?

I was just importing my text messages from my iPhone to my Droid Charge... all 29,000 of them.

Took me a few hours to get the format right, then a bit to install all the messages, then **POW** fucker freezes and keeps restarting. No SMS in or out, nor can I access any. Hard reset the phone and try again, but with 10k... same thing. Then do 5k and after a few minutes, all the messages load, but is super fucking slow.

On the phone with Verizon tier 2 support and Samsung support... they say "its not an issue with the phone or Verizon, its the Android OS." WTF?!?! Basically, everytime you reach 4k messages you need to delete them all.

FUCK THAT! I put over 30k messages on my phone since 2008!

That fucking blows big fat rhinoceros dick!!

I'm looking for an app that will autosave my messages (found one) but will allow me to go back and read them off the memory card and automatically purge older texts from my contacts. Because that would be to fucking smart!

I accumulated something like 12,000 texts or more in almost a year of use on my HTC Evo 4G with Android and the messaging app suddenly crashed and wiped all of my history at one point a month or so ago. Other than that one event, the app works very good in my daily use. I just started afresh. Like some others said, if you want to archive your texts like you may do with your email or instant messenge history there are some apps that you can use for that.

im otp with Verizon waiting for someone from HTC to see if this can be supported. If so, Im going to switch. I don't mind backing up message every once in a while but Samsung support said they recommend deleting messages once you get to 500! five HUNDRED! WTF, Ill do that in 2 weeks!

The only app I know of creates records of your texts like an email (with it's own folder) in gmail.

Of course, you can go back and reference these with the gmail app if it is ever needed.

Never heard of a 4k limit and there are others with thousands of sms on their android phones without a problem. Where did you save them? Make sure they are stored on your SD card (what card do you have?) and not taking up space on the device itself. Shouldn't be a problem.

It may be the most sold phone but people are slowly moving to android as the android smartphones can do way more than the iphone, the iphone doesn't even support micro sd cards.

A lot of people say that the smartphones battery life isn't very good but my galaxy s2 lasts me the entire day when its fully charged, I only charge it once per day but If I'm not playing around with it, it will last a couple of days without charging.

When the iphone 5 comes out, if it has a bigger screen like the galaxy s2 and htc sensation, supports flash and micro sd cards then I might, just might go get the iphone 5.
