It depends on what you're trying to SEO. Some niches and keyword it's enough for some it's not. Also, how many keywords are you trying to SEO. How many other articles/posts does the site have or is going to have?

I like this answer! Thanks.

We are going to try with 250 words post length and see how it goes. We are not going to over fill it with keywords and non sense phrases, it will be pure creative writing.
We hired 2 new content writers and we are giving them a test

250 words is better for post than 500 words. Given that you have 10 250 word posts compared to 2 500 word posts lol.
So no, title does not say it all, it depends (and not just on the one factor I mentioned)

I think if you write at least weekly, 150 + is good.... 250 = better

the more words you have the better you rank. for a low competition term 250 words may be fine. for high comp terms try for at least 2,000 words per blog post. to get into the top three you may need 10,000 per post.

HI, Jey....

Try 250-600 word posts 3-4 times per week...I think others already said this.

If you are pushing a domain name that pushes a product - I suggest getting the keywords of domain in post, title, wherever you can without being weird about it.... I did this recently and went from page 20 to near top of page 1 in 1 weeks time...

Creative writing posts are great. Your experience may vary. ;)

You're talking about mainstream, right? I have never seen a porn blog with 2,000 word posts, let alone 10,000.

You should always go for 350+ words in mainstream. We try to stick with 500+ for our websites. But for the content to be optimized you need also a good keyword density of around 2-4%. Stick with that density with any number of words you get for your articles.

We have been testing for a while and short articles don't bring good results, in fact they look pretty spammy if you ask me.. If you are doing a site with some educational stuff, how can you explain a hard subject with lets say 200 words? Sure you can try, but a lot of info will probably be left out.. The Panda update is hitting hard on low quality content sites that is why it is better to get longer, higher quality content just to be on the safe side..

For porn or mainstream. It also depends on niches and competition. I have blogs with 50 word posts ranking great for lower competition keywords, naturally I'm talking about the blog main page with ~20 of those 50 word posts not the 50 word post page. If you want to rank post pages good for keywords I'd say 250 words+ is a must and also deep linking to them with other blogs.

Even one sentence is enough if you know what are you doing and what are you targeting

Yes and it's way too much !

Sometimes 10 words does the job.

1) Domain name with the keywords in it
2) .com extention
3) shortest possible
4) IP with less than 10 domains on it
5) Unique design and content
6) Updated at least once a month
7) Keywords in the blog post which reflects the domain
8) Do not interlink your own stuff or link to banned stuff
9) Wash, rinse and repeat
