Woke up this morning and found a bunch of emails saying my skype account had been credited. Turns out some Russian (I guess) made 50 or 60 calls to azerbaijan (all to different numbers, must be some kind of scam) using my account, which unfortunately was hooked up to my paypal.
I was able to get it taken care of by filing a dispute with paypal but it looks like this is a common problem and for the most part people are not getting very good help from Skype, at least based on this thread:

I did have a chat with their support rep, who seemed relatively willing to help but also not very bright. Not her fault I know, but just an idiotic script.
