I have a 140 gal salt tank. Thought about doing a nice corner reef tank one with an arc'd front, but right now I don't have a decent place to put one.

A couple of years ago. It sits in my entry area against a halfwall that divides the entry from the formal dining room. I had the cabinet custom made to match the height of the half wall.

Love it. I spent 3 years designing and installing custom marine tanks professionally in Toronto. Had my own for ages, but it takes time, patience, energy and MONEY.

Nice tank, PK!

Another pic. This one was when the tank was first cycling...hence lack of fish. There were only two in there at the time.

haha.. I've used the dining table in that room a handful of times in the last 5 years. For the most part we use it to play games on.

Had a 100 gallon tank for a while, fully cycled and filled to the brim with critters. Ate up so much time and money that I had to part with it. It's unfortunate, the thing was beautiful but soured me on the hobby for years.

Before I moved to phoenix we sold our 90 gal reef to my high school for a few grand. A few grand didn't nearly cover the costs but still cool none the less. My favorite thing about a reef tank is its ability to run itself filtration wise. Once a balance is achieved the damn thing runs itself. No more water changes, no filters, no maintenance. The tank was running stable with a about 120 lbs of live rock, a plenum (sp?) , with periodic skimming. Can't wait to get back into it!

My tank after the move

reef tank is a totally different creature. I wouldn't be able to have the puffer, triggers or tangs that I have now. They'd kill live rock.

Of course you could...it would just mean more maintenance. I just cringe when I see dead coral in a marine tank.

Eh? Corals are a different story... triggers will eat invertibrates for breakfast, so it limits what you can stick in there.

wow thats a sweet setup you have there. We used to have a 100gal corner tank and would take our boat out to local reefs and catch new fish to put in it every few months.

what kind of fish do you have in there now?

A hawaiian puffer, a purple tang, niger trigger, clown trigger, couple of clowns, a harwike wrasse, a squirrel fish, and an achilles tang. A bit low on fish right now. I need to decide what I want and add a couple more.

We used to have great tropical fishes but that bloody algae stuff fucked everything up. It was everywhere.

Might start up again though. In the mood now...

Woooo...I LOVE Reef Tanks.

I have 3 tanks right now.

250G, 75G and a 38G.

About 2 weeks ago, I had my perculas spawn and was up half the night trying to catch the lil buggers.
I got them in a small 20G and they are doing well.
I was about to catch about 50 of them.
Eight now..they are about the size of a pencil head.

I'll post pics later of them

My first tank was a 38...then that wasn't big enough. Then went to the 75G and then 250.

Now I wanna build a 750G in the wall.
Hahaha....only problem is. i'll have to strip and get in to clean the glass probably..lol

Nah..been doing this for like 7 years now.
