    I bought an ipad2. I feel so dirty.

    I've been trying to make my new sites more mobile friendly and I had no way to test iOS compatability so I finally bought an iPad. For all the shit talking I do on apple I have to admit this thing is pretty nice. I see why you apple fanboys love them. I'm going to stick to my Asus Transformer though. My only gripes with the iPad so far:

    One tinny-sounding little speaker. iPad sounds like absolute shit without headphones. Transformer sounds a lot better.
    A lot of similar apps that are free on Android cost money in the apple store. Some of the apple apps do look more polished and professional.
    I have to have itunes running on a computer. I fucking hate iTunes.
    No flash. Not sure if this is gripe or a feature yet. Time will tell.
    Wireless isn't as good as the transformer. Downstairs the wireless coverage sucks in places. The transformer stays connected. The iPad doesn't. My Dell laptop drops wireless a lot down there too. Funny thing is my MacBook doesn't.
    iPad is very simplistic. I prefer an assload of options.
    iPad is locked down tight. My transformer is already rooted and running a custom rom.

    Most of those are minor gripes. The iPad is a cool little toy.

      On Android I use connectbot. What should I use on iPad? An ssh client is a requirement for me.

          I don't get the point of an iPad.

          It's a big phone that can't make calls.

          A laptop can do everything, and is just as portable unless you use a small purse to carry things...

          Hence, unless you're a woman who uses a small purse who wants to carry an oversized phone that can't make calls, I really don't get the point.

                                  Congrats. Although I still don't get why the Apple products are so much expensive than many others that has same or better use. But on one point I understand you - a cute little toy with assload of options - that's something that makes you happy.

                                                                          I just found out from the guys working at best buy that you can buy a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and turn your ipad into a pseudo desktop if need be.

                                                                                  It doesn't come with it. It's another $150 on top of the $400 pricetag. Don't forget that the docking station/keyboard thing adds something like 16 hours of battery time too.

                                                                                  I just wish Asus would get the issue resolved where the docking station battery drains at about 5% per hour while the tablet is in standby. They say it's a known issue but as far as I know there has been no official fix.

Honestly, so far I have not missed it one bit. If I never see another flash banner as long as I live I will be happy. I can still watch my kitten and fart videos on youtube and that's all I care about anyway.

                                                                                                                                                  Those of you saying that ipad is the best are clueless. You may have tried an android tablet in the past and it might have sucked. There are many manufacturers of android powered tablets. There are all sorts of different specs and customized versions of the android OS. It's not like Apple. If you tried one ipad, you've tried them all. The android tables are all very different. Find one you like and buy it. I personally prefer the transformer.

I have that under control. I'm worried about video embedding which android and ios handle very differently. Your embed code needs to be right for all platforms. Then you have the issue of video encoding. There are lots of sites that don't work with android and/or ios. I'm not going to be one of those sites so I need to have an ios device handy to test with.

It's really nothing more than a big Itouch. It's like a smaller computer that can only surf, or a big iTouch that doesn't have flash - a combination which makes it utterly useless for me. If you want to sit on the couch and surf a little, do some social networking, that's great. But I need a computer I can install my software on so I can really do things, not jerk off on.

Even my kid doesn't see the point in it. She can't use any of the sites she plays games on because they are all flash driven.

It's a small network with a flip screen that works like a tablet. It's a bit heavy for a tablet, but it's got a full keyboard. Perfect for sitting on the couch and goofing off, yet I can install my software on it and travels nicely.

                                                                                                                                                                              Go to jailbreakme.com and your iPad will be as good as rooted. Never get why people will call a stock iPad locked down and then in the very same breath rave about a rooted android device. Jailbreak your iPad. There's nothing you can't do to it after that.

                                                                                                                                                                              Also for the people asking what the iPad is good for...I'm laying flat on my stomach naked getting a massage from a girl while watching tv and browsing the web. Sure I could do this right now on a laptop but it's so much more convenient on my iPad.
