Los Angeles: One of the only two known copies of an alleged porn short film starring screen icon Marilyn Monroe is being auctioned at Buenos Aires film collecting festival.

The initial price of the print is $ 500,000 at the auction, which takes place from August 6 to 7 at the Borges Cultural Centre, the Hollywood Reporter said quoting EFE.

The black and white short film was shot sometime between 1946 and 1947 and event promoter Mikal Barsa is expecting the print to fetch the double of the initial price.

The six minutes film was owned by a Spanish collector who recently passed away.

Barsa has also sold the only other copy of this film, which surfaced in 1997 and was sold to a private collector for $ 1.2 million in 2001.

But many still doubt that Monroe is in the film. To back the authenticity of the movie, Barsa mentioned documents from the FBI investigating the origin of the film, and a set of jewelry worn by Monroe in the film that is the same as what she wore on other films and photos she did around that time.

Barsa said that an American officer took these films to France, where they remained stored and forgotten for decades in an antique shop in Paris, until two Spanish collectors unknowingly bought them together with other films, and later discovered the great resemblance of the film's star with Monroe.
