"How much should I charge" implies you are doing the work for somebody else, but your post suggests that you want to know how much SOMEBODY ELSE WOULD CHARGE YOU to do the job for you.

My girlfriend's family company (more like a huge multinational corporation) paid $300,000 for their logo. It came with a fucking thesis' worth of bullshit research on the shapes and colors chosen.

I haven't designed anything for anyone else in almost 5 years. But I wouldn't have touched a branding/logo job for anything less than $500 back then...it would take $5,000 to bring me out of retirement now. Which are both actually extremely cheap quotes compared to what the big boys pay/charge.
