What is broken when xxx.com doesn't work but www.xxx.com does?

    What is broken when xxx.com doesn't work but www.xxx.com does?

    Something needs to be changed somewhere I don't remember what, thanks..

      Probably is a nameserver setting. Do you have an A record with an @ symbol in the host field? That is what I have for requests for the main domain without any sub domain like www.

          1. Propagation to the DNS system if the domain is less that 24 hrs old.
          2. No www.xxx.com. record in the domain's DNS template in the DNS server. (www. is actually a subdomain of the parent domain xxx.com.)
          3. Some code in the domain's root .htaccess causing the problem.

          www.xxx.com resolves ...

                                  Usually dns but it could be the apache file.
                                  Typically this is a local issues and rebooting your computer will fix it.
