Thanks, The Blu-Ray extended version is the same as the DVD extended version. That is what I was looking for.

I went ahead and ordered the BD extended... did you? how is the dvd extended?

There are currently two versions of LOTR: theatrical as shown in the theatres and extended with additional footage.

I was hoping for even more footage since I know there are several additional scenes that were shot and not yet released to the public.

Saving the scenes for the Ultimate, Maximum, Supreme, Longest-Possible Version...I suppose.

extended apparently had a green/blue filter added to it, and some parts are too tinted....
