Christmas Eve Shoppers Blocked From Wal-Mart

The assistant manager at this Wal-Mart is playing his best Gandalf the Grey at the front door nearly half an hour before the posted closing time. -- Seemingly a d**k move, especially on Christmas. However, from his perspective, it's a way to ensure the employees get home to their families instead of waiting an hour after closing for slowpokes to finish filling their carts with last-minute gifts and pallets full of Twinkies.

Nobody's right, here. It's just fun to watch a Christmas Grinch take on some irate procrastinators who suddenly fancy themselves legal scholars.

The manager I am glad stopped them because as you mentioned - his employee's have been working all day - long hours - they deserve to go home to their families. Other stores may demand that their people stick around just for the buck - but you have to look after your people first in this situation. If the common man can't plan their time well enough to shop days - weeks etc. before christmas eve - it's their fault. Walmart was open "sometimes 24 hours that whole week" so do it then!!

when i worked in a shop this happened all the time everyday, ive had people banging on the door people crying who goes to a shop 5 min before they close i don't fucking retards.

Over here most big stores won't allow people to enter 15 minutes before closing time. Smaller stores generally don't have rules like that but it's still considered rude to arrive just before closing time.

stores like this piss me off. If your store says it closes at 8 it closes at 8. If they are worried about stragglers then turn the tills off at 8. It should be illegal to turn away customers when your store is open.. false advertising.

Easily solved. A week before Christmas put up a sign that says on Christmas Eve the store closes at 8 but the door will be closed to new customers an hour before that.Then no one has a thing to bitch about.

Fuck him and his employees, they should all be fired. God forbid they actually work at their jobs like they are supposed to. On top of that, Wal Mart advertised deals that were only available on Christmas Eve, after certain times of the day, So it was their own genius marketing strategies that caused so much last minute rush. And for the 'legal scholars' that would indeed be false advertising. As for feeling bad because their employees had to work that day, do you know for a fact that none of the last minute shoppers also had to work for the day and this was their only time to go out and shop?

The day that man owns Wal Mart, then he can make the rules, until then he needs to do his job as told.

I can see people being pissed if the store is supposedly open for another 30 minutes and they refuse to let you in. If they want to make sure employees can leave on time that night they should have changed the hours for that one day and closed 30 minutes early.

When I was just out of high school I worked at Radio Shack I was there for two Christmases and both times on Christmas eve we closed up, were doing the books and setting up the day after Christmas sale stuff and we would end up with people banging on the door hoping to get in and get that one last thing and when we would tell them the books and the registers were closed so we couldn't sell them anything they wold get pissed at us like it was our fault they waited until 8PM on Christmas eve to shop.

that happened to me on christmas eve. i was just returning some movies for the redbox located inside the store, sign said they closed at 8 i got there at 7:30 to be treated very rudely by the manager and his cronies...i also needed some C batteries for one of my sons toys...

I'm one of those scumbags I guess. I don't see a problem with going to the store within the published openning hours. I am always out againg before the actual closing so really can't see what the issue is with that
