It's interesting that five dollars would prevent someone from stealing a watch, jewelry, laptop, clothing, etc.

ExtremeBank_Adam 06-24-2011 08:02 PM

I usually leave $5 on the pillow each day when I leave the room. I try and tip well all the time, unless service is horrible. I also tip the valet, pizza guy, bellhops, the guy at the marina, taxi/limo drivers, just about anything service related.

ShellyCrash 06-24-2011 08:06 PM

I left her a fiver and the chocolates I got from baddog in a cute little stack on the desk.

AMSCash 06-24-2011 08:09 PM

I always over tip. No matter what I am doing. At times you may think that they do not deserve it, but if the shoes were on the opposite foot, we would act differently.

Its worked everytime so far.

agreed. :2 cents:

Depends on the country. In some contries the tip is part of their salary...

davecummings 06-25-2011 09:49 AM

$2 per day, sometimes more.

If I arrive to a dirty room, then fuck no I'm not tipping the housekeeping at all!

If the room is clean when I arrive and they do a good job then I will leave anything upto $100 behind for the housekeeping.

SleazyDream 06-28-2011 08:06 PM

I never really thought about it... I probably should leave a few bucks now and then...

But to answer the question yes I tip hotel housekeeping.

I've started tipping delivery people more because of high gas prices but I almost never leave a tip aside from change and singles i have unless i make a real mess of the room. The cleaning staff gets paid a full wage as far as i'm aware. They are not waitresses or strippers which require a higher tip.

Well, you can say that about any job at this point.

I always tip, and I like to tip well. If they do a crappy job they get a small tip, if they did well they get a healthy tip.

When I was underage and waiters would serve me alcohol without asking me for ID and they were cool i'd tip up to 50% on a few hundred dollar bill.

NALEM 06-28-2011 09:43 PM

Whenever staying in hotels for several days, I go out of my way to meet the hotel maid or her supervisor. I let them know what my needs are (extra towels/soaps/shampoos and respecting the Do Not Disturb sign) and that I will be leaving a tip for their service.

More often than not, when I return to my room, I will find that they have left little gifts in the room for me, such as like snacks, bottled water, magazines, etc.

alessergod 06-28-2011 09:46 PM

Hell it's only money, only cheap bastards don't tip em...
