I've got a basic custom script I use on a few sites. Working on an upgrade for it for a new site I am working on though. I have also been thinking of giving tubex a try.

If one needs a script to build a tube using hosted sponsors' flvs only, what script would you, guys, advise?

This means no complicated advanced features like conversion, uploading etc. are needed.

Interesting how these "scripts" for tubes pop up. All you really need to do, to create a LEGAL tube, is to use your existing CMS (like MAS) to set up a "free members area" with your content (limited, obviously) and show some content - direct them from there to your tour of choice - and smack! You have a tube site!

Honestly, those scripts look very nice, but $200 for an unlimited domain license and it's completely open source / unencrypted. It's fully featured; CSV mass import, in-line video player ads, messaging, XML parsing, mobile version, etc, etc..

You can design it any which way you want, or even take the money saved and hire someone to design you a custom template.

Customer service from Chris is great as well.

the rest 95% of small or medium tubes don't do shit.

Yes, but $99 per month = $1,200 per year and even the most expensive tube script is barely that much for a lifetime, one time charge.

No, and we really never wanted to be in a "tube" world. It goes against our belief to even consider it, but the truth is that you really do not need a tube script if you already have a decent CMS that already "does this".

Oystein, not everyone has CMS already. Not every webmaster runs a paysite, most just promote sponsors. That is why they buy scripts like TEVS and other tube scripts.

I use Mech Bunny (konrad's), Tube Ace and AVS.

The first two are great. I don't like AVS because it needed so many custom mods to make it an easy to use legal tube script (bulk upload, sponsor and banner assignment, etc.).

That makes no sense. Tubes make lots of sales to paysites, which need CMS and affiliate tracking software, two products of yours.

i know what u are saying about not wanting to stray from the affiliate and cms software realm (like your competitor) but tubes do have their place. web surfers (mainstream and adult) want to watch videos on tubes, and that can't be ignored. some day there may only be tubes and no one will bother downloading. no one downloads to their tablets or phones. the world is moving to streaming only.

There are many good tube scripts out there and we would love to be integrated with all of them, if possible. We all know that legal tubes are here to stay. We are not ignoring that fact. Many of our clients are using the capabilities of our CMS to have their own tube "tours". We have been asked to create tubes that also can take on uploaded videos by members - which we do not agree on from the simple fact that it is the driving force of piracy. That said, legal tubes are fine and we integrate MPA3 to work with those when asked.

As far as I see, WP keeps holding a 2nd place so far and that's good. I never ever seen any other script which is so easy in use, flexible, extendable, powerful and Google-friendly as WordPress especially if it's used as a tube engine
