Webmasters....what's the best gift you gotten from sponsors this year? Since I don't make shat for sale I'll prob get a big "go screw" for Xmas. But whales....enlighten me on what I'm missing out on!

We were just talking the other day about how different it is in the piracy era as opposed to a few years back.
Gifts used to come like crazy at Christmas from almost every program I promoted. But just like "reward points" that affiliate programs used to have...that's become a thing of the past, just like the big Internext shows with outrageous booths and tons of money being spent.

Yeah, years ago was nice, I'd get all kinds of surprises, from a basket of different candies to a turkey, but the two best things I've got were an Ipod, when they first came out and a nice Canon camera, but it's been a few years since I've gotten anything more than a card and even those are scarce these days.Comment

Back in the day I got a few cool things. One program sent me a bottle of Dom and some Omaha steaks. I got several gift cards from different programs. One sent me a big box of gourmet chocolates and another sent me an Xbox. I also got a digital camera from one. The coolest thing I got though was cash. in 1999 a company that was new had a great site that I came up with a killer text ad for and it converted like wildfire. They launched in the middle of the year and I ended up being their top affiliate for the year. They sent me a bonus check that was for 10% of everything I had earned that year. It was a nice little surprise. Sadly the site went to shit, the company fell apart and disappeared. They still owe me a few grand.

Another thing I remember was back before there was epass or paxum and everyone got paid by check a lot of companies would fed ex their checks for free at Christmas time so that people got them for the holiday.Comment
