    Did you know NY has its own version of Mardi Gras? ... [pictures]

    Rio has the Carnival and New Orleans has Mardi Gras. Did you know that Coney Island NY has The Mermaid Parade?

    I didn't until today when our lead photographer Buster, a local to NY, send us these pictures.
    He has lived in NY his entire life, and has never seen this event before.

    We are pleased to present to you the freaks, the geeks, and everyone in between that decided
    to "dress up" or in some cases "dress down" for this festive occassion.




    Expecting a huge crowd, the police where in full force.



    The NYPD Paddy Wagon for the drunks and tokers.



    Interesting couple. Las Vegas was not good enough.
    They opted to get married here in Coney Island.



    Wedding guests included Mr and Mrs Jack Sparrow


    Ariel



    and King Neptune himself!

                                  Clearly you are not one of my ex-wives that trolls the board and makes sure to stalk me in the threads.

                                  Certain photographers connect with their subject very well, and Buster is one of those people. Buster told me he had only 30 minutes to see this parade of people and get it photographed. Not bad, for a "drive by" shooting.

                                                                      Grumpy the photo wall is flash based and is a fresh way of viewing photos. It feels strangely odd for a few minutes, until you learn how to used it.

                                                                      Think of having a joy stick or better yet, having a girl named Joy on your stick. Take her for a spin. You can bring her up, slide her to the left, slide her to the right. You can fast forward and back up as quickly as you like.
