There are over 100 events/shows every year that I consider attending including the NAB, Siggraph, Affiliate Summits, Digital Video Expos, XBiz, AVN, CES etc.
Personally, I think there are too many shows already. It seems the "show pie" just keeps getting cut into thinner and thinner slices. I am conservative with my hard earned cash and without a substantial probability of realizing a return, I will not invest a grand or more on events, travel and hotel food. Unless the show has excellent business opportunities and a proven track record of putting on a quality event, I think long and hard before I spend my money. I am not looking for a vacation or a "high school-type" reunion. |
As a female program owner, I wouldn't decide whether to come based on if my wittle ears heard the promoter use a word like cunt. I don't know about y'all, but, among other things, I sell adult material on the internet, so I don't shock terribly easily over language.
I think anyone, who lives in Hollywood and is successful, has girls and drugs available for free delivery at any time, so I'd hope most folks would decide their interest based on the business opportunities. I cut down my company's show presence in recent years because, fun as the shows have been, I just wasn't seeing the ROI on what was fundamentally $9,000 worth of beer each time. |
Nothing new, working on it already. And more to come.

I wrote a note too you but somehow it was deleted from the multi post. John you are one of the people I truly respect in this biuisness(I can count them on two hands). I value your opinion and your experience. I was relieved that a company owner that has common sense joined this topic, you know me better Anywaym not kissing your ass but i'll call you sometime and i tell you what this is all about.... are you busy today? |

I dont care what people think, or how many people despise me..but I do care about my reputation because it is my most prized asset. Ive made some serious mistake in the past, but my eye is on the ball and i am laser targeted with my goals and mission statement. I love this industry and most of the people in it like family, please excuse my potty mouth and look at my actions and past history rather than my silly posts (becuase i get super sillious).... anyway have a great sunday.. I am going to my dads and then brunch... \Cheers. |
OK so obviouisly I am not welcome on GFY..... at least it appears so.... if nobody wants to hear from me let me know and I will ask Eric to permannently ban me.....

Look Chris you're a good guy and I've enjoyed talking to you in the past, and as I said I like the idea of targeted dinner meetings and business concierge service. Despite how super laid back and how casual the language is on GFY, I just think that the way you are trying to attract attention to your idea could have been written better. That's all. |

That was pretty much how we started IslandGathering back in 2001. Priced all inclusive event 75-80 Owners, decision makers or High Positioned Employee's. Worked out really well the first couple of years ;)

Company owners and directors would welcome an Elite Event. HOWEVER, it would have to be an event organized by the cream of the crop in event planning, relationships, respect and everything in between for me to leave my desk or send one of my directors.
Slapping an "Elite Event" together in a matter of a few weeks is not possible. How can the very best in everything come together in 1 month? I'd think that it would take more than it seems this will offer. Good luck! |
Already happen and shoemoney prolly has "elite retreat" trademarked
