The output volume on my HP laptop is low... how can I boost it..

I currently have an HP laptop here and the output volume is pretty low. I have checked all the setting and it's still pretty weak.

I was wondering if their is some kinda of volume boost software to increase the volume to my headphones.

    Do you have any suggestions?

a lot of laptops have a low output to save energy but im surprised the volume is low using headphones, maybe the headphones are not much good. did you check the volume control on the headphones, some do have one. some software can boost the volume but you may get distortion, vlc media player has a volume boost for playing music and videos.

winamp plays louder than most players i find, plus you can control the 'preamp' settings and equalizer.

It sounds like it's just quiet. Any software fixes will be bogus as it will just be adding gain.

                  Get a head phone preamp:

                    what's up man?

Tell me a few things...is this something new that just started to happen? Try using someone else's headphones also just to make sure nothing is wrong with yours.

I am assuming you have checked all the computer settings such as clicking the speaker icon and checking all the advanced settings?

After reboot if still the same, try reinstalling the drivers.

                    Good luck

A lot of times you can find hidden extra settings to mess with (find out who made the audio adapter and download the software for it) if you need to boost the audio output.. and if you end up needing it, there is software out there that will do it.
