I've been with them for years. Not one problem ever.. I don't understand the bad press they get from adult webmasters..
I bought a domain from someone and joined godaddy to get a quick transfer.
I hated their website so much that after I got the domain I let it expire because
I rather not log in over there ever again.

It was a good domain too!
I almost done that aswell. But I pushed through the ordeal and almost an hour later, managed to renew it
There is tons of extortion cases from them, plus bad service.I moved from them longgggggg time ago.
I have also been with them for a while. I would bet he only people who have issues are people who are mailing etc. doing something a little shady, maybe opt-in emailing. which is not illegal. but still.
I have never had an issue there. If I ever had someone mailing to one of my domains. I would not host it there. But for blogs and such. It is fine.
Also, to complain about godaddys service is stupid. Anytime I have a domain with about a month left to expire, they call me atleast 2-3 times a week. and not an automated system telling me a domain is expiring. A human being who speaks english. This is good service if you ask me.

Me neither. I have moved a lot of domains over to namecheap but that was only because I am not paying $9.99 for privacy at godaddy. If at renewal I find a coupon for a lower price for privacy I will keep the domain there.
Service-wise never a problem and they rescued a few good domains from registerfly for me when they failed a few years ago so they are ok by me. I also much prefer godaddy reports and information.
They are a funny group.. Plenty of people have had domains taken for the stupidest shit yet you let them know about a pirate site and that they registered the domain and they always say that they can do nothing about it. But god forbid you phone number on the account no longer works.
I've kept my mouth shut because I thought it was either shit I never encountered or pro-bro snobbery, but what exactly sucks so bad about GoDaddy?
Whenever I had issues they resolved them free and quick, I know they have a huge upsell process just to have a simple transaction go through, but that's just annoying and almost admirable - it's gotta work for them...
So... what's up with all this anti-godaddyism?
:D

Why are the prodaddy people going about support so much?
You should never need support from a domain name registrar. If you have to contact support for whatever reason they are probably doing something wrong.
The only time I needed support at namecheap was when I needed an enom push. They done it for me for free. One time about 2 years ago. Much easier to use interface, no upsale bullshit.
The only time I needed support at dynadot was to get my parking revenue early. I wanted to use it for renewal fees and they done it for me.
Never had to contact support at name.com, or any of the other smaller registrars I've used.
Moniker I never had a problem with really, but I hate their interface aswell.
I had countless problems with godaddy. No mailing problems or whois problems. But things that shouldn't have been a problem.
I bought privacy on one domain, and it is done through some external page (not sure if it still is) And it took forever to get it taken off, just got it off before they charged me $9.99 for it for the next year. (far too expensive)
When I have sold domains at godaddy, the process seems to take 3 times longer than at other registrars. To push/change accounts. They are pretty good at getting domains moved out to other registrars but I guess they get a lot of people doing it
Changing anything on a domain is a pain in the ass.
Bob Parsons is a prick.
TDNAM sucks you have to use an external site to be able to search the listings properly. No such problems at other marketplaces.
Never hosted there, but have seen no end of complaints about that.
If someone buys a domain from me and they move it to godaddy I still get emails about that domain even though I don't own it. This only happens a few times but still annoying.
Don't know about .XXX thing, but that would give me another reason to hate them if true.
Also, that privacy thing where I couldn't take it off I had to contact the support to do it, yeah ok they done it eventually. But you should never need to contact support to get privacy removed. The setup was so shit I couldn't get into the privacy area and turn it off myself.
Rather than go into a whole story, I'll just say that they accused me of spamming from a domain I'd registered 24 hours earlier and I'd only done 1 ascii upload to the domain (so I'd know it was resolving). They didnt want the server logs I offered to prove I'd done nothing but 1 ftp upload.
Most insulting company I've ever dealt with. You're guilty if they say you are. They won't prove it, and dont want proof that you didnt.
Needless to say (so why'm I saying it) I moved the domain within a week to a good registrar.
Their claim to fame is their almost softcore porn advertising and thats fine with me. But for me, I wouldnt even use a FREE registration coupon if they offered it.
The only issue I've had with Godaddy was with their hosting, which took a while to resolve. I think their database got corrupted and my site was being all screwy. It took about 3 weeks, but they finally moved me off of it after kicking it up and down the ladder for a thousand years.
Otherwise, their support has been good and I've had few issues.
