They are already working on season 2, but I don't think they have said when it will start airing. Probably next spring some time.

Yea season 2 is already signed for. I'm pretty sure they will make 1 season for each book, unless they find some way to extend It to 2 seasons per book etc cause this show is showing great ratings It seems.

That's what happens when you do stuff right instead of half-assing it.

I had read back right after the first episode aired that they would love to do a season per book for the whole series. Today I was reading that because some of the books are very large and involved that they might break them up and do 2 seasons per book. This would also give the writer more time to finish the last two books in the series.

I would guess as long as it is popular and they can do it within budget they will keep making them. The problem with a series like this can be that as it gets successful the cast wants more money and soon it becomes too expensive to shoot.

There will be but I would never put too much faith in HBO and their series after 2 seasons. I remember watching Carnivale and then all of a sudden it ended. It was like spending a week reading a 2,000 page mystery novel that leads you to the very last page where it says, "The butler did it. The End.". Carnivale had 8 million regular viewers but it was still cancelled. I don't care to look it up, but if anyone else does, check on the viewer ratings for GOT. If it's at or less than 8 million...be cautious how much you vest in it.

Just for the record...Spatacus kicked the shit out of this series. Not only did it kick its ass, it fucked it in the ass like a slave girl in the Ludus. If this is HBO's answer to it then HBO best get back to the drawing boards.

Indeed. I would love for this one to go at least 1 season per book.

I'm a huge fan of Spartacus and I'm also really enjoying Game of Thrones. I think Game of Thrones is much more complex so it is going to take longer to really get going. But I must say I've liked it so much so far that I have ordered the series of books.

Also, let's not forget a brilliant little series HBO made a few years back called ROME. I think that series set the high bar for this type of show.
