Is it just me or do all tradeshow look EXACTLY the same - same people, same speed networking, same old same old........ we need something NEW.... a non tradeshow tradeshow.... wouldnt that be fun?????
No speed networking, no elite dinners, no bro drinks - just party, mingle and have fun at the pool, at the club, and after hours. Strictly invite only. wouldnt that be cool? |

And no, consistently staying at home and missing out on opportunities to network face to face with people from your industry is NOT a good approach to running a serious business. It's a good way to work on an irrelevance award, though. |

It sounds like that sales rep you're ripping was simply trying to see if either 1) you were misinterpreting an opportunity between his/her company and yours, or 2) if you did have it right, why there was no opportunity so he/she might suggest to his/her company ways they could improve to be more useful to people like yourself. There is nothing wrong with that. Long before I was involved with a show myself, I attended other shows on a regular basis... and almost always came away with something positive. I could go on and on about the benefits of attending shows whenever possible... but suffice it to say that there is a huge benefit for many of us to get a chance to network face to face and get a feel for the people we may or may not do business with. I'd generally much rather do business with people I've met than someone I've never met. |
Being Negative about shows or things in general in this market, is rather counter productive. These shows are what you make of them, you can party hardy, which some people still do , or come away with something, you can turn into a business opportunity :thumbsup

Cmon now, for a creepy voyeur guy you should be able to come up with some real witty shit. Gotta think quick to convince people that you matter in the world and need to take their photo to plaster up on a site that has more hits from you hitting refresh than any real possible viewership. At least your gross mentor gets some traffic views, you get yourself and some ogre chick. Fail. |

Jon, for a moment I worried you wouldn't make new friends, but I see you caught up fast today. I have a flight in Aug for NY and i'll change to so we can get together.
