Most people reading here won't go back far enough to appreciate the significance of this. David Sturman's father Reuben was one of if not the primary founder of the adult business in the United States. His life could be a movie- check his entry on Wikipedia for just a taste. The GVA's (General Video of America) were collectively the biggest distributors of adult magazines, 8mm videos. novelties & toys and later adult VHS & DVD movies for many years.

They were separate companies under one overall umbrealla located in Cleveland, Chicago (a/k/a Capital News Agency), Michigan, New England and the one mentioned in the article- San Francisco that just closed. I used to sell Pleasure Productions' new releases including my own early series like 'Strap-On Sally" to all of them in the 1990's when they were still a powerhouse to sell in their own retail stores or resell to other smaller distributors, chains of bookstores or independent retailers.

The cash money fortunes that some of the old school guys made back in the day when all of this stuff was underground or at best quasi-legal are the brick and mortar fortunes that Paul Markham references in some of his posts. Imagine armored cars full of cash money weekly just from the peep booths alone...

Indeed, sign of the times. I've been waiting for this news. I wonder how many producers will not get paid due to their closure.

                  From the article:

"We are reviewing our accounting records and will pay any outstanding invoices in a timely fashion. We will be in contact with you to confirm our current balance owed and to arrange for the solution of our outstanding issues, if any."

They're not completely closing their business, just the wholesale distribution part of it.

Understood. I was going by how the adult distribution business works combined with their history of making payments. I wish them well.
