lol wow, blast from the past. Shit I didn't get internet until 1997 I think? I remember browsing the internet on a Packard Bell computer that had a whopping 75MHz Intel Pentium, 2MB of RAM, and 4x CDROM
Remember the hourly connect charges, firing archie in the back ground, searching "veronica" using gopher, quickly saving anything that looked interesting for offline viewing.
Then (quickly) exiting gopher, by this time archie was hopefully done, zipping up the results, then launching "uqwk" for SOUP.. (when usenet was for actual conversations..)
If you were clever, you put all this in shell scripts with output redirected, so you could xfer files while waiting for processes to run.
typing:
sz files.zip
By the time files.zip were transferred over your 2400baud modem, the SOUP packet was ready...
sz soup.zip
Ah yes... and my favorite... ASCII PORN!!! hehehehehe
(If you're too young to remember: goo.gl/5BzDX )
Brings back old memories.. long distance rates, high connect charges, pulling my hair out (I had hair then..) trying to figure out how to exit 'vi'....
But honestly, if he thinks he was chatting with women.. he was sorely mistaken... hehehe

Reason: Had to see if ascii porn still existed.
